I added wrong. Still, Hunter looks too old to be Raul's son.
I have to side with skittles on this one. The biggest concern, really, is that Fredrik is a solidly baritone role. As much as I'd love to see Raul in any musical, I don't think he's the most natural fit for the role vocally. As for casting the roles so young, the unfortunate thing is that you lose the generational contrast between Fredrik and Desiree and Henrik and Anne. That's essential to the story. I'm not sure I really buy that Anne would be freaked out by the prospect of sleeping with the much older Fredrik if he doesn't read that much older than her.
I think I'm going to produce a younger, hipper revival of Follies and cast Raul as Buddy or Ben.
Seriously though, I'm going to be optimistic that it'll work out fine. I just don't see Raul as Fredrik as perfect casting.

This is actually the strongest point I've heard so far. They would have to age Raul quite a bit, but also would be a more damning argument against Kate Winslet--who would look far too much like Anne's slightly older sister.
It occurred to me yesterday, while indulging in my annual sing-along/love fest with 1776, that Raul would make a stunning John Adams.
Anybody else think so?

YES! Especially if he gets to wear a white shirt.
"But I burn, Mr. A."
"So do I, Mr. J."
If only for that song, perhaps.
ROFL! And cast Cheyenne Jackson as Jefferson....
I saw Twelfth Night last night, and absolutely loved it. Raul is pretty hilarious, and quite fetching in his flowy white shirt.
...I wanna see it again.

Is this Raul's 1st time doing Shakespeare? If so, it's even more impressive that he's getting so much praise for his performance. It doesn't get more difficult that first time Shakespeare!
Not quite, but basically his first in a leading role on a major stage. He did some Shakespeare about 15 years ago and played Hotspur in a recorded version of Henry IV, but that was also way more than 10 years ago.

So he's not a complete Shakespeare virgin, but he hasn't performed Shakespeare in a production of this caliber (till now).
That would be an accurate assessment.
Awww....his name is Raul:
(Me, I don't see the resemblance )

OK, I have no idea how I managed to miss this two weeks ago. It definitely qualifies as one of the...stranger red carpet pictures Raul has ever taken. It's obvious why it didn't show up anywhere else. What a very odd thing to do on the red carpet with hundreds of cameras going off non-stop right in your face.

Hi,
Haven't been around here in a while and just catching up on the last few pages. That amazing picture of Audra, Anne and Raul is at the photographer's site in a bigger size. I didn't see where anyone saw that. Sorry if it's a repeat.
The pic is a thumbnail at the bottom of the page I linked, but click on it and it gets bigger. She does really nice work. I also would like to see more from this shoot.

omg. That was a stunner of a photograph in thumbnail, but wow.
THANK YOU! I've been hoping for a larger version of that picture since it was first posted.
Oh. My. God.

Thanks to whoever posted the name of the photographer. And thanks to Google, too.
Thank you for finding that!! The larger version wasn't on the website yet when I looked at it about a week ago. I emailed the photographer to ask if there are any other photos from the shoot, and where they might be published, but I have not as yet had a response.

Ok, you gotta admit...that revival of 'The Rocky Horror Show' had the most perfect cast imaginable, and having Raul only made it MORE perfect.
Here's a nice tribute to his earlier work.
