Absolutely can't wait. I actually loved season 6, I thought it was a ton of fun. Hopefully this season will be as great.
In other news, a news story I read ruined a major character that gets killed off in the first episode. Has nobody heard of spoiler warnings?
You mean something like
*****SPOILER*****
A major chatacter gets killed off in the first episode.
It's the last season. Why not all of them at some point? Let them eat death cake

I'm starting in an hour. Mrs. Stone will be in seclusion until it's over.
Just letting you know that when you do come back here Mrs. Stone, we're here for you. I know it's going to be a tough night for you after that opening scene.
Woof. Well that was an opening episode. I didn't realize how much I missed this crazy show.
I missed it, too! I also realized I'm ready to be done.
But I'm totally on board for this last ride.
Well, that was an episode...
Is it too early to start my "That was Eric's hand at the end!" crazed theory?
Tara had a good run. I feel like maybe the writers just didn't know where to take her story.
I liked the showdown between Jessica and the Hep V vamp, and I liked how James connected with LaLa. I prefer the original actor, but whatever.
But did no one think, "Okay, we're looking for vampires, probably in a building no longer being used. Ooh! Let's try Fangtasia!"
i don't think tara is dead,
Ugh this show!
Some random musings:
- The writers couldn't have chosen to kill of a main character that I cared less about. She should have stayed dead the first time.
- Jessica (and apparently Lafayette) got a definite downgrade when it went from Luke Grimes to Hayley's werewolf bf from The Originals
- It's nice that even after 6 seasons Anna Paquin can't sustain an accent throughout an entire episode...or scene.
- I'm so concerned about Sam's gf and baby because I think she's been on the show about 7 mins total.
- This season seems to be like season 2 of The Walking Dead. An endless, uninteresting search for another character.
I don't think she'd dead either. We didn't see anything, and the only source we have is her mother, who certainly isn't reliable.
I like the new James, and always down for a potential gay plot-line.
What hand are you referring to Wynbish?
I thought it was a real fun season opener. I am glad that they seem to be going the direction of screw secrecy, but putting it all on the table. Put me in the camp of not thinking Tara is dead, unless we see a melt shot it still open.

Rutina said abot two words on that special last week. That should have been a sign!
To add to what Wynbish said, this show has never known what to do with Tara. She was always the worst and the show seemed to get a particular pleasure out of sh¡tting on her. I always loved her, though, mostly because I just love Rutina Wesley. But that said, my money is on Tara really being dead. I could have told you, Tara, this world was never meant for one as beautiful as you.

Why am I seeing an empty space where Tara used to be and why am I still seeing that Isabella Rossellini knock-off with Jason? Why is she there? WHY? Does she have a name? Don't tell me, I don't care to know it.
You'd think that making her a vampire would give her some life, but no. For a few episodes last season, her one contribution was protecting Jason from the Gen Pop girls. Her death will be a better contribution than that, if nothing more than bringing the crazy back to Lettie Mae.

And Jessica! But she's stuck in a crappy storyline. I thought for a second she was gonna drink AdA???farie's blood so she could outlast the diseased vampire in the sun.
Arlene is the only one I care abot getting it of Fangtasia's basement. Maybe Jane Bodehouse. That effing Holly is still alive is equally galling as Vampira. Jason always seems like some writer's ham handed way of trying to subvert gender tropes where it comes to sex.
I still love it, though, because duh, it's True Blood.

There's a Vulture interview that makes it sound like Tara is most sincerely dead.
Such a weird death scene for a major character. We didn't even see it. No Sookie around to hear her last words. No one reacting..nothing. I just can't believe that's the end of Tara!
Tara's death scene was indeed incredibly bizarre. For such a major character, I don't understand why they wouldn't show her dying or give her some kind of send off. She had a couple lines and then we are told she's dead. It was lame and a smack in the face to a character that the writers haven't known what to do with for years. I don't buy into the "she's not dead!" thing either. That would be an even bigger joke. I don't think Pam is freaking out over it because she is trying to find Erik, I'm sure it will be talked about soon enough.
Other than that, the episode was a little on the slow side but most of the premieres of True Blood are. It was entertaining enough and set up the season. If the preview at the end of the episode is any indication, we're in for a hell of a season. Even the best seasons have had their ups and downs but I will miss this show greatly. I started watching it with my best friend when we were in high school. Now, here we are 7 years later as adults still talking about the show every week to each other. It will be sad to see it go.
On a side note, Jessica was the highlight of the night for me. One more reason I think she is the best and most well rounded and well written character on the show. I know they have said quite a few main characters will fall this season, if she is among the ones who will die, I will be truly heartbroken.
I wanted Tara and Pam to be the only vamp survivors.
This. Riding off into the Sapphic sunset.
