A Director said: What charitable committees and causes has she leant her to name to support?
Melania Trump has charitied The Arts, The Poor and the sick as chairwoman for the The Boys' Club of New York and the Martha Graham Dance Company. She is also affiliated with The Breast Cancer Research Foundation, the Police Athletic League and the American Red Cross
A Director said: There are many examples of men and women who were born very poor behind the Soviet Block who came to this country, made a fortune and used their wealth to help others. As far as I can tell, the center of Melania's world is herself, her son and Donald.
You cannot be serious. Not sure how that diminishes her but to play your game there are far more examples of people privleledged to be born in the greateat richest country on the Earth and waste that huge head start. Meanwhile immigrants from dirt poor countries with nothing make the American Dream with brains and hard work.
Please skip the sob stories of poor little Melania walking barefoot in the school. Please skip the sob stories of poor little Melania arriving in this country wearing a clothe coat with little money in her pocket. Yes, poor Melania! Nobody knows the troubles she's seen. Nobody cares! In fact, she grew up with humble roots in Sevnica, Slovenia, where she was known as Melanija Knavs and lived in Communist-style apartment housing that overlooked a river and smoking factory chimneys, the Associated Pressreports
Petralicious, you can list as many apparently positive attributes as you like, but the fact remains that Melania chose to closely associate herself with Donald Trump. That makes her lowlife scum by definition.

"So you apply that horrible logic to Huma? Do you apply it to Hillary? So you apply it to John Edwards wife Elizabeth? Or only Republicans and Women you do not like?

Well, I apply it here to Melania Trump because (1) Trump is a singularly evil person in modern American history, and (2) that fact was absolutely clear when she chose to associate herself closely with him.
The same sort of judgment might or might not apply to the others. First off, Trump is in a whole different class of evil from Bill Clinton, John Edwards, George W. Bush, and the like (though they're plenty bad). Second, I don't know if it would have been apparent to their spouses how bad they'd be at the time they chose to marry them. By the mid 2000s, Melania had no excuse for not knowing she was yoking herself to absolute garbage.
I have a long history of hating Republicans and Democrats pretty much equally. I could go on for hours about what's wrong with Obama, and my friends can assure you that I've done just that. However, Trump - in his character, his values, and his ideas - towers over all of them. He and his supporters are absolute scum.
KDOGG I agree with you in that most of both parties are awful horrible people. Trump being the singularly evil person in America though is just ridiculous. Those other women could have gotten out of their marriages at any time. We do not live in Saudi Arabia. They will not be stoned for divourcing. So looks like you are giving them a pass.
kdogg36 said: "No, it's the plain truth. I'm not comparing him to Dylann Roof here, but to other politicians in contemporary America."
You're absolutely correct, and he's doubly dangerous since our system of checks and balances appears to be endangered since the Republicans who control both houses of our Congress seem more than willing to support him.

Petra, with you it's always an issue of perspective.
You wrote: "We do not live in Saudi Arabia. They will not be stoned for divourcing. So looks like you are giving them a pass."
I'm perfectly willing to give each a pass on account of two factors: love and rampant infidelity on all sides. When it comes to matters of the heart, folks have always done strange things since time immemorial. It' reasonable to accept that each woman at some point loved her respective husband, perhaps before and after his publicized transgression(s). There are even women (and men on occasion) who remain in abusive (or demoralizing) marriages out of fear of having to go it alone and financial uncertainty. I don't claim to know all the how's and why's.
I wish no ill will against you. But please be mindful that women of all backgrounds and educational levels have dealt with philandering husbands. Many of those same women have paid their husbands in kind even if it's not public knowledge. Even though divorce is rarely frowned on these days, there are many couples willing to work through their marital woes however they see fit. In some cases, that translates into sticking with it until the kids are up and out or until one or both achieves their lifelong goal of becoming POTUS.
Not meaning to put too fine a point on it but a family member and his wife are co-habiting after their divorce because neither is able to qualify for a loan to purchase the home they co-owned while married. Their home is nestled in one of the county's priciest zip codes and they have a blended family that's otherwise close-knit.
Javaro. You have this backward. Obviously you did not see the context on why those women were mentioned. Not to shame them in the least.only to compare them to Melania and her life that was being insulted. I hope you go back and read that whole section. I think you will then see that Melania was the one being shamed.
I read the whole thread, Petra. It never suffices you to simply note Melania's positive attributes and keep it moving. You attempted to deflect criticism of Melania to a list of charges against high profile women from the other side of the political divide whom you find too dumb to divorce their husbands. Let Melania stand on her own merits. There is no need to juxtapose Melania with Michelle Obama, Hillary Clinton, the late Elizabeth Edwards, or Huma Abedin. I personally don't think that you do her any favors by doing so btw.
By now, you've probably gathered that 0 is the # of f*cks that most folks here give about Melania. They're not stupid. They know exactly how she charmed her way into the Trump empire, by blowing the Donald in 5 different languages. It's her life.
This should relieve the mind of those above who questioned Ivanka and her conflict of interest.
The entrepreneurial mother-of-three said she will take a formal leave of absence from the Trump Organization and her apparel and accessories brand once her father is sworn in as the 45th U.S. president. “I will no longer be involved with the management or operations of either company,” she wrote.

Correct. This will only suffice for the simple-minded. If you'll recall, when elected, Jimmy Carter sold his god damn peanut farm to avoid even the possibility or perception of a conflict of interest. A peanut farm. Not a corporation. Not a multi-million dollar company. A small, privately owned peanut farm.
I really wish Marco Rubio would step up and give Trump's nominee for State, Rex Tillerson, a hell-to-the-no vote out of pure spite. Le'ts face it, he's in bed with Putin and Trump's entire presidency will center on getting sanctions against Russia lifted so that Tillerson's former employer Exxon Mobil can drill in Russia's sliver of the the Artic. All Trump has to do is survive one term in office for his brand to make 100s of millions (or more) in Russia as soon as he returns to private life. One term alone could bring in the biggest haul to the family in Trump's lifetime. As folks in the hood say, dem mofos are about to get paid.
I want to know what the breaking point with Trump will be for Republicans like Little Marco and Lyin' Ted. McCain and Graham seem to already be about there, but at what point does he lose guys like them, who never seemed to like him much anyway?
The Hollywood Reporter saw shades of Jackie O in the social media pic that Ivanka posted of “the coat”: “The photo is very fashion in its faux reality, as if it’s aiming to be one of the old 1960s and 70s’ era Ron Galella paparazzi shots of Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis.

A friend of mine always says that Jimmy Carter was way too good of a man to be President, and she's right.
When I see the phrase "the ____ estate", I imagine a vast mansion in the country full of monocled men and high-collared women receiving letters about productions across the country and doing spit-takes at whatever they contain.

Melania Trump Channels Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis in Inaugural Day Fashion in Ralph Lauren
Incoming first lady Melania Trump channeled another first lady today with her choice of Inauguration Day fashion.
Trump, 46, was spotted entering St. John’s Episcopal Church alongside her husband, Donald Trump, wearing a sky-blue dress with a structured shrug and matching gloves.
She also wore her dark hair pulled back in a styled bun.
The look was reminiscent of former first lady Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, who was well-known for her classic style.
Trump’s dress was a custom design by American designer Ralph Lauren.
