>>Carol Channing would be fabulous as Mrs. Totendale in The Drowsy Chaperone, but she'd never do it >>

What about Angela Lansbury?

I once heard someone describe her (Ruthie Henshall) singing as sounding as though she's trying to swallow a whole meatball slightly larger than her windpipe. (The same person compared Michael Ball's singing to sounding as though he's sitting on a washing machine on spin cycle and Colm Wilkinson's to a man with a paralyzed lip trying to eat cottage cheese.) --- Schmerg_The_Impaler

Nick Adams would be an ideal Emcee in cabaret, and he might actually do it.

I have made my distaste for Nick Adams very clear in the past. He's sort of a zero-threat - as a straight man, he has absolutely nothing to offer me.

Michael Cerveris would be a great Lord Voldemort, too... dude, what's with my Voldemort kick today? Moving on...

Christine Ebersole would make a wonderful Mrs. Lovett, seriously.. has she not played that role yet?

I'd actually love to see that.

Agreed, PiraguaGuy2. I just don't understand Nick Adams' appeal. He does not have the acting ability for the emcee in Cabaret.

Who is Elizabeth Ashley? Edit: Never mind, I IMDB'd her.

And if anyone had the chance to play Joanne and turned it down, they are whacko.

This is kind of a long shot/odd thought, but it might be fun to see NLB as Tommy DiVito in Jersey Boys. lol it would probably never happen, though, and I'm not sure if he'd do it or not.

I would love to see La LuPone as Mrs. Danvers in REBECCA, but I highly doubt it would ever happen.

why do you hold such distaste for Nick? Have you ever seen him in anything or you just hate that people give his body attention? Do you know what he is capable of?

Norbert Leo Butz should play Dan in N2N on Broadway, but probably won't.

If Nick Adams can do a German accent, he'd be perfect for a mendes style Emcee. PiraguaGuy2, I'm curious; are you very familiar with Cabaret? (If you don't know every word, you're missing out.... best show of all time IMO) Nick Adams has the femininity, the voice, the sexuality, the acting chops (really, the Emcee doesn't show a wide range of emotions; he's difficult in other ways), the stage presence, and the look. It's perfect for him.

I've thought Jack Black for DRS since the day after the 2005 Tony Awards and I remember first posting that on some message board then when I came here, I saw other people agreed with me.

Annaleigh Ashford would be good as Natalie in Next to Normal and she did do it in early workshops but I don't think she would ever do it now.
