Too many solo mics for the sound guy who probably only had 1 rehearsal. I do have to say I am very happy with the sound tonight though. Being in the Beacon is the best thing to happen to the Tonys in years!
David walked into the valley
With a stone clutched in his hand
He was only a boy
But he knew someone must take a stand
There will always be a valley
Always mountains one must scale
There will always be perilous waters
Which someone must sail

That song is the musical's downfall to me. You know the nuns will be high calibre performers from the get go.

Really high energy, awesome lighting. There hasn't been a performance I've disliked yet except the Spiderman one because it was too slow.

No one writes standards anymore-all these songs from new musicals just SUCK! Sorry. After seeing the West Side Story tour yesterday, all of this crappy music makes me sad. Its all bombastic dreck.

"I want to meet him after and bang him!"-random woman who exposed her breasts at Rock of Ages, referring to James Carpinello

Yeah, it seemed MUCH faster. Love the show though and that performance!

I thought I remembered that one year they showed actual 'clips' from performances of the plays -- I didn't imagine that, did I?

I love the horse. I wish I could of seen War Horse while I was in NY. Hopefully it will extend again and I'll be able to see it next May.

And in order to have "standards" at all, you need to be writing in whatever the pop idiom of the day is, and have a music scene in which songs are not tied to singers, but simply to their genres. The rise of recorded sound gave us great recordings of the standards, but also meant the gradual end of "standards" per se.

While it didn't need to be with Memphis, I am glad that the Tonys are showing children who love theatre.

Wow, kudos to Memphis for consistency! It's still as crappy as I remember.
