I never missed the Doyle Company so much.

"Side By Side By Side" sounds much better when the key doesn't have to be lowered for the actor playing Bobby.

Tyne looks beautiful.
I think it would have been incredible if the four living Roses did a tribute to Mr. Laurents.. each taking on different parts of 'Rose's Turn' and leaving the ending to a recording of Ethel.

Me too. I was okay up until that moment, then the tears just started flowing.

donthat - You are just rude. People understand they are old and I actually thought they were cute. So I don't think they lost viewers because something that takes 15 seconds to say took 30.
zamedy- that would have been a beautiful tribute. That was beautiful though.

Now THAT would be brilliant other than some of the junk on that stage. SIDE BY SIDE was painful. All those non-singers/non-dancers in one place-truly sad. Painful. I loved watching Patti barely lift her leg during the kicks.

The TV directors filmed the "Anything Goes" and "How To..." production numbers like Fred Astaire films were filmed. We saw the dancers entire bodies from their feet to the head. That's good.
Compare the camera work on the Tony's just now to the camera work on the song and dance numbers on the Oscars. Oscars' video gives me a headache because the camera angles are switched back and forth with odd diagonal angles and with in and out close ups. The Oscars camera work calls attention to the Camera work and does not show off the dancers. It's modeled after music video camera work and no fun.
The camera work on the Tony's on big numbers has been fun and has been well done.
