I’m curious about the lack of waitress. Did it not open in time or was it just not nominated? https://www.broadwayworld.com/article/COMPANY-and-COME-FROM-AWAY-Lead-Olivier-Award-Nominations-Full-List-20190305
THRILLED that Company has garnered so many nominations. So well-deserved, and, unless a surprise happens, they’re bound to win most of them.
While it’s not a masterpiece, Six is one of my favorite British musicals in recent years. It’s fun, funny, and clever, and I’m happy to see them getting recognized. Interesting that all of the Queens are nominated together.

Waitress hasn't officially opened yet- this week, I believe.

I don’t like that they grouped all six actresses from “SiX” into one slot for best supporting actress. Either nominate the best or don’t nominate any of them.
Happy “Fun Home” got some love. I was scared they would be forgotten. But, Zubin Vara was by far the weakest link in the show.
I noticed that “Heathers” got no love which is not surprising.
finally, why did Ruthie Ann Miles get a nomination? She 100% deserves but she didn’t open the show. I thought people who opened the show always got the nomination.
The Actress in a Supporting Role in a Musical category is insane. LuPone, Miles, Tucker AND all the SIX women?

that jumped out at me too; as well as Heathers.
I’m so thrilled for Adrienne, Rachel and the K&I cast.
Are Hadestown and Heathers not eligible for some reason? Such a shame about Waitress missing the deadline. I really hope Katherine, Marissa and Jack are remembered because so many more shows will be opened long then and they won’t be there next year

Waitress is still in previews at the moment so it's not eligible - I expect it'll get some nominations next year though.
I'm really happy to see Jonathan Bailey and Richard Fleeshman get nominations. Bailey was an absolute standout and Fleeshman was fab in Barcelona!
We had a bit of discussion at work about the three leads in The Lehman Trilogy getting a joint nomination - interesting choice. We were also a bit surprised to see no Hadestown, even in song categories; I was expecting a bit of love for the show even if it didn't get lots of nods.
I'm really pleased to see A Monster Calls and Fun Home on the list too :)
I don’t like that they grouped all six actresses from “SiX” into one slot for best supporting actress. Either nominate the best or don’t nominate any of them.
They also nominated the three men from The Lehman Trilogy as one for Best Actor in a Play. The Oliviers have a history of doing that because they rightly make their own determinations based on their own rules and methods.
These nominations are silly.
All of them? What makes them "silly"?

Really surprised at the Hadestown shutout. Was it not well received there? Considering it's pretty much a shoo-in for Best Musical here. And same with Heathers. It seems to be doing well here, and I think it's score is top-notch. Just listened to the cast recording and it still holds up.

A Monster Calls is one of my favorite novels, so I'm pleased that it got three nominations. However, I'm a bit confused by the decision to put it in the Best Score category. In a year with so many strong musicals, it feels somewhat unfair to honor a play such as this. The score was very good, and the Second Tale had a strong musical element, but why give it a third nomination when Hadestown doesn't have any? Nonetheless, A Monster Calls really deserves greater recognition, and I think that it is the favorite to win the Best Entertainment and Family Category...

The Hadestown omissions are the most surprising. I would have thought at the very least it would replace Tina for Best New Musical.

The critics seemed to like Hadestown a lot. I wouldn't be surprised if it was omitted because the National Theatre could only put forward a certain number of productions. I expected their production of Anthony and Cleopatra to do a lot better at the Olivier Awards (it only received one nomination) given its success at other award ceremonies this season...
Overall, this has been an excellent year for British theatre, so doing badly at the Olivier Awards is not the end of the world...

I'm so baffled by the Hadestown omissions that I assumed it must have been ineligible for some reason. My friends in London adored and raved about the show. I'm really surprised to see it ignored across the board like that. Then again, it was a foreign production with a short run. Also, the Oliviers have a logic all their own - they wouldn't be what they are if I didn't scratch my head at them every year.

I feel like the Olivier Awards need to give out more nominations. If there were five nominations instead of four, Hadestown and Heathers would be doing a lot better. The Tonys stick to five nominations even in weak seasons like 2017-18, so why can't we do this in the West End when there are far more productions, and they tend to be superior?
Surprised as well with the lack of Hadestown nominations. I hope that won't affect the Broadway buzz. I'm very happy about the Company nominations. Is Jonathan Bailey a lock?

Hadestown was eligible but its reception was very mixed here. Some people loved it, some hated it, but from what I've seen most people thought it was okay to good, but not great.
Very happy about the Company noms!

It didn't deserve any.
To anyone in the know it was an 'out of town' work in progress and it showed.
I think people who hadn't seen Comet probably enjoyed it more than those who had. For me even American Clock was far better directed.
Plus up against Six, Come From Away and Company it wasn't even close to their level.
