Which Shows Do you think Will Perform in the 2022 Macy’s Parade?
Also, which shows do you think will have filmed stage performances?
We should find out about 3 to 3.5 weeks before the parade. So, around the first week of November.
In the first hour or so of programming, my guess is (besides the Rockettes, who perform every year):
CBS's other show will be Hadestown. JMO
I can see these shows performing in the parade:
Filmed stage productions?:
If full casting is not announced by Thanksgiving (which is the most likely outcome), I don't think Bad Cinderella is going to perform this year.
Next year, though, yes.
Oh yeah, I forgot about Funny Girl. I can definitely see it performing either in the parade or on the stage.
With ITW and Music Man both closing soon, I don’t know what the incentive would be for them to perform.

Who says Bad Cinderella will still be running next fall?

What about a number from 1776? "Molasses to Rum" would be the perfect choice!
Notifications went out today. They're going in a new direction this year:
1) Gabriel Byrne will do a monologue from WALKING WITH GHOSTS
2) The Egg from 1776
3) The shower scene from TAKE ME OUT
4) camera slowly pans over the titular piano from THE PIANO LESSON
5) Inwood Daddy sequence from A STRANGE LOOP
With so many longer running shows closing, I think we might see a lot of newer shows this year trying to get some hype.
- Kpop would a draw for the younger crowd to tune in.
- A Beautiful Noise would be a draw to please the older crowd tuning in.
- &Juliet draws the crowd right in the middle between the other two.
Now being that this is going to be Phantom as this is the LAST holiday season, can totally see it performing. Just not sure if they will go with a pre-filmed in the theatre on one network or perform live in the street. Either way, I think we will see it.
I can't see Lea coming out early morning in the cold to peddle for the show live in the street when she is already selling them out but I can see them going with a pre-taped on CBS for sure.
There's no reason why FG can't have Julie Benko do the parade. The song ABOUT a parade!!!!
There will be a need for the parade/network to diversify offerings, meaning not all jukebox. I would say your key contenders get broken into 2 categories, and maybe they pick 2 from each:
Traditional Broadway: Funny Girl, Phantom, Some Like It Hot, Almost Famous, Into the Woods
Jukebox: MJ, & Juliet, KPOP, Neil Diamond
If I had to bet: Funny Girl, Some Like It Hot, MJ, and the 4th slot goes to either & Juliet or KPOP.

The shower scene!!! Now I"m excited!
No doubt, something from “ Diana the Musical” and of course, “ Burn it Down” from Paradise Square.
Let's face it - it's not a family gathering until everyone stands up at the Thanksgiving table, joins hands and sings "Burn it down! " A very Norman Rockwell moment.
I think it'll definitely be focused on newer shows and shows that aren't announced to be closing.
I would put a lot of eggs in & Juliet's basket because its vibes are just perfect for the parade.
Funny Girl and MJ are also pretty likely.
Then I'm guessing Some Like It Hot, Neil Diamond, K-POP, and Almost Famous are duking it out for the 4th slot with the potential for them to go to CBS if they don't get it.

She did this for GMA. I can see her performing.
Funny Girl, Some Like It Hot, A Beautiful Mind, MJ, Into The Woods

Another film-to-stage adaptation?
Actually, that one could be good.

Definitely most of the those, although Into The Woods is closing in January so I don't think it matters. I will add Kimberly Akimbo who definitely needs the exposure. And A Beautiful Noise will be good, I'm sure.

A Beautiful Noise, Some Like it Hot, Funny Girl, and either K-POP or & Juliet. Those are my guesses. I wish there was more than 4. Last year there were only 3 and one of them was Wicked. So it is anybody's guess.
Last year cbs only had one performance, I believe. It was waitress with Jennifer nettles, but I remember thinking it was weird they did it with her because she was already out of the show by the time it aired on thanksgiving.

Lea also probably has X number of press performances / press appearances baked into her contract.
Official: Funny Girl, A Beautiful Noise, Some Like It Hot, and The Lion King will all perform this year.
Nice lineup this year!
