Nice lineup this year!
Nice for the kiddos.

Like 3 out of 4. I would rather have something new like "Almost Famous" than "Lion King" which has performed multiple times over the years.

I guessed none correctly. Lol. We’ll see if I do any better with my speculations for pre-filmed performances from theaters.

Has THE LION KING ever actually performed at the parade? A quick YouTube search for their performance yielded no results. This might be the first time they’ve had a performance in the Macys Parade. Fitting for their 25th Anniversary! I can definitely picture them opening the parade with “Circle of Life.”

I stand corrected. I am shocked it never performed before at the parade. In addition, with the 25th anniversary of the show it makes sense for them to perform.
Just in: the CBS telecast of the parade will feature performances by Moulin Rouge! and SIX.
The debut of a giant “Bluey” balloon, Lea Michele and the Broadway cast of “Funny Girl” and the legendary Dionne Warwick are some of the highlights slated for this year’s Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.
In addition to “Funny Girl,” Broadway will be represented by the casts of “A Beautiful Noise,” “Some Like It Hot,” ”The Lion King,” which is celebrating its 25th year on Broadway.

But what is the Bluey balloon going to sing?
The parade is tomorrow morning.
I won’t be providing real-time reactions, as I will probably sleep in and watch both broadcasts on my DVR, but I will get around to the performances and offer my two cents as soon as I’m able.
Happy Thanksgiving, one and all.
Just watched Six’s pre-recorded performance from the Lena Horne Theatre (seriously, how good does it feel to say that?!?) on CBS.
I’m in Oklahoma so maybe our broadcasts are behind the east coast? NBC starts their broadcast at 9:00 Central time.
Anyway, I thought the cast of Six did a good job. I would quibble with the camera work which somehow (I think it was all the close-ups) made the stage design look more low rent than it appears from the audience. I think the camera work also reduced the ability to appreciate some of the choreo. But overall, a solid job.

That was the best opening ever. Funny Girl just sold a lot of tickets

That really is how you open a PARADE. Good for Funny Girl. That was an excellent opportunity.
also…where’s Christian Borle in this SLIH number?
Three great performances so far. Some Like It Hot just sold some tickets.
Moulin Rouge! - Another solid performance, but I feel like it’s hard to capture the magic of live theater with these pro shots (is that the correct term for this type of camera work?).
It’s no secret that I loved Moulin Rouge! the two times I saw it on Broadway. Klena and Loren were in good voice. But I do miss Aaron and Karen. There was a grounded-ness to their performances while Klena & Loren appear to have been directed to lean into the cheesiness at least for this broadcast. Of course, over a course of watching the entire show, their performances might hit different. However, I did see Loren when I saw MR a second time and my quibble then remains: she at no time feels like a woman with a tragic backstory who is battling a terminal illness. She feels like.. Sandy from Grease stumbled into Paris. But again, perhaps for this broadcast, maybe that was what they were going for.

NBC cutting too Hoda and Savannah and Andy Cohen rocking out to 'Sweet Caroline' was a gift for this show.

I'm on the west coast, so I haven't seen it yet, but I'm guessing the number was Some Like it Hot. In the show, he's there for the number, but out of his disguise and in the audience.
I'm a bit surprised though because they did make a version where they gave him a few lines when they released the song as a preview: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SSXBXXinMGQ
Opening THE Macy's Parade with a star knocking the hell out of "Don't Rain On My Parade"? You don't get much better publicity than that!
Some Like it Hot is trending on Twitter (yay) and this is perhaps the funniest reaction I've been seeing (and I've been seeing it a lot): https://twitter.com/annestaggwrites/status/1595790562447294464?s=20&t=U_x2R9U0DABSWA_1v2oenw
I thought it was progressives who were against this show, lol

Funny Girl’s performance was a good start to the parade. For me, Lion King came across as fairly low-rent when performed outside of the theater. The animals are much more impressive in the smaller confines of a theater IMHO.
SLIH seems like a throwback to the golden age of musicals. For the nostalgia factor, it was fun. But despite loving Ghee (saw them as Lola), I have zero interest in seeing this.
I thought Lea did a great job with the opening and of course it made sense to open the parade. I thought Some Like It Hot looked fun. The Lion King was The Lion King and I found A Beautiful Noise pretty underwhelming.
Lea Michelle, Some Like It Hot and A Beautiful Noise(Sweet Caroline) are all trending on Twitter currently.
A Beautiful Noise was a tad underwhelming. The wig seemed…bad. It definitely has the nostalgia factor going for it. I will say they even though I found the choreo laughably over the top in places, that ensemble was selling it 110% (no 75% here) especially that short hottie in the front. He can spend Thanksgiving with me anytime he wants. But it’s a problem when I’d rather watch the ensemble than the lead .
