Interestingly, Annie is turning equity next season and it will play a 5 week engagement at MSG over the holidays.
Are there any other examples of shows going non-equity to equity? This seems like a strange and unusual move.

I believe Chicago had gone non-equity before the SETA contract arose that allowed them to pick-back up Equity status for a number of years before it was licensed back to Prather/Apex non-equity.
And I think a similar scanrio to this happened a few times with Grinch, Christmas Story and Elf, where one of the companies would become equity again for a season if they were going to play MSG for the holidays.
This might be the first example, at least that I can remember, of a production that didn't start life as an equity tour becoming an equity tour several years down the line.
I'm sure the organizing folks at Equity are going to call this a win, whether or not they had involvement with this example.
Chicago and A Chorus Line are the .ost notable to go from equity to non-equity and then back to equity. Sometimes not back-to-back though. There may be a year off between the two tours.

Hamilton’s new tour cast got announced today! A great mix of new and familiar faces. Justin Matthew Sargent as KGIII is just brilliant casting.

Any rumors of additional casting for next year’s season? Some Like It Hot starts rehearsals in early August so their announcement should be imminent.

For those who pay attention to orchestra sizes on tour- Ain’t Too Proud cut all the strings and horns and put them on a click track. The new tour has a 5 piece rhythm section (K1, K2, guitar, drums, bass). The new finale is gonna feel really empty…
The Back to the Future tour also cut a good amount of their strings, if not all of them.

They cut them all :( the tour pit is 10 compared to 18 on Broadway. I saw it in previews in NYC and I’ll see it in StL next week- I am tempering my expectations for sure

MYSTIC PIZZA tour dates all cancelled - Paper Mill run still happening
I had a ticket to this - in Minneapolis at least, the performance has been replaced by Legally Blonde.

Does anyone know if Life of Pi Tour is expected to add more tour stops after their last posted date next august?
The Come From Away tour ends this Friday in Moncton, NB. The tour ran as equity from October 5, 2018 to May 24, 2023. The non-equity tour ran from October 17, 2023 to May 9, 2025. The only difference from the equity and non-equity tours was the turntable was removed on the non-equity tour.

Kennedy Center announced:

Mrs. Doubtfire (July 14–August 2, 2026)*
The Outsiders (July 28–August 16, 2026)

It's been reported that the reasoning behind the non-equity tours coming to Kennedy Center now is that the current administration what's to save some money with less expensive tours.
Looks like more of the new touring shows like Stereophonic & Suffs are going to Washington's National Theatre's season

Washington DC seems to be a lot of shows that run a week, then are done. Thought there would be a bigger market there.
Has Six gone non-equity?

Anyone know the answer on Six? They seem to start playing in obscure places for 2 nights next year, which has the hallmarks of non-equity.
Six will be staying on an equity contract
Looks as though the Beetlejuice tour closes this September and a non-equity tour launches next year.
