Broadway in Detroit has started teasing their season to be announced later this month. First one is obvi Moulin Rouge. They haven't done teasers like this before, so it's kinda exciting for us.

I thought the Curran Theatre went out as a independent company and left BroadwaySF?

That was during the good days of BroadwaySF being run by the Nederlander amid a split between them and Carole Shorenstein Hayes, who owns the Curran.
When CURSED CHILD came to SF, CSH entered a management deal with ATG to oversee operations of the Curran. Now that ATG has bought the Orpheum and Golden Gate outright from the Nederlanders, they effectively control all three road houses in the city (unfortunately).

Interesting. ATG bought the Fisher Theatre in Detroit from Nederlander too. Which was surprising since the Nederlander Org. was founded in the Fisher Building.

Thanks didn’t know that.
I know tours typically land in San Francisco for longer than many other cities, including having sit downs, along with Chicago, Los Angeles. Washington D.C. and funnily enough Cleveland, Ohio also play longer than the typical week but it is only seven shows spread across 3 theatres, surely they could have more shows come in..

I doubt it. ATG, as noted, controls all three of the main touring houses now. The Golden Gate got some refurbishing done, but it’s still the worst of the three theaters. The Curran is the best, especially for shows - like Kimberly Akimbo and Parade - that would benefit from a smaller scale. The Orpheum is fine for the bigger musicals.

I have gotten many more emails about the upcoming season than I have gotten in the last five years. But, I have also gotten a lot more emails about current shows than I used to get, so I don’t know whether there is something big coming or whether their marketing has been bolstered this year.

Overall a very strong lineup, but I do wish we got Parade or a play. The Stifel has yet to annnounce its season- I know Shrek is playing there, plus a few more shows TBD.

Other than Back to the Future and A Beautiful Noise, I'm actually pretty excited about this season and may subscribe again. Does Broadway SF still let you switch out tickets for one production into another?
Nice to see that they're using the Curran, which is a much better fit for Kimberly Akimbo and Parade. The runs have gotten shorter, which has always been the speculation ever since Ambassador Theater Group took over."
It is intriguing that San Francisco can only sustain one subscription season, where Los Angles can do two, I know Los Angles is bigger than San Francisco but I always thought the latter to be more artsy. Anyway I wonder what shows Los Angeles will announce and what will end up in the Pantanges and will go to Ahmanson?
I see there is a gap in the Hamilton tour between San Francisco and Seattle, so wonder if is going back to Los Angeles for a month? Makes sense!

Some Like it Hot - Oct 1 - 13, 2024 (Fisher Theatre)
MJ - Oct 23 - Nov 3, 2024 (Fisher Theatre)

Overall, I'm happy with this season. Wish MJ or ABN was swapped out for Shucked, BTTF, or &Juliet though. Really not a fan of bio-musicals.
Guess I'm crossing the boarder for Kimberly Akimbo in Detroit!

Will be interesting to see how CTGLA (Ahmanson) pulls together a season.
No Parade?
Will it go to the other series? Before or after the San Francisco dates?

I'm guessing Parade will be the tentpole CTGLA (Ahmanson) build their 24-25 Season on. This would be a good choice. The Ahmanson is a much better fit for Parade. I don't think we will find out anytime soon however Ahmanson is always the last to announce.
WOW- Pantages has a great season. I am sure Parade will go to the Ahmanson. It was already successfully produced by them a long time ago.

Agree. Maybe they get & Juliet too. I was sure Shucked would have gone to the Ahmanson, that one surprised me.
Ah yes- & Juliet and Parade are a given for Ahmanson
I'm guessing the Ahmanson will get Parade, & Juliet, and Life of Pi.

Will be interesting to see howCTGLA (Ahmanson) pulls together a season.
Not surprised to see Back to the Future, Harry Potter, Beautiful Noise and Some Like it Hot at the Pantanges.
But thought Kimberley Akimbo would be more suited for the Ahmanson as that seems more arty kind of theatre than commercial. That is why Parade would be good there. So also guessing that @Juliet will be going to the Ahmanson the only thing it needs 3 other shows. They could pull off a coup along with Toronto’s unannounced 7th show and bring over Operation Mincemeat from London. Also another coup would be Merrily We Roll Along from Broadway. Spamalot would sell if that decided to tour.
"
Interesting that Harry Potter will be at the Pantages for 4 months. I wonder if longer runs are required due to the special effects?
