I really enjoyed this production of Sunset, but Nicole's charms must not work on me as I find her good, but not great.

Just skipped through the Sunset recording. First Time I have heard Nicole sing a song from it all the way through. Jesus, I never knew she had THAT voice! Amazing.

Nicole has incredible pipes, and it was a wonder watching her navigate through the role live. But its SO over the top, shes directed to try SO hard, it smothers the character and the story. That performance was the epitome of that problem. No dig at her talent.

Young was very good though especially her act 2 monologue.
I think Purpose is taking it.
The sound issues aren’t going away - Nicole sounds muffled."
I saw her understudy who was excellent so now I feel like I need to go back and see Kara.

Natalie Venetia Belcon (Buena Vista Social Club) wins Best Featured Actress in a Musical.

Natalie has as much grace, wit and stage presence in person as she does in character. Well done.

Nicole sounds great, but that performance was just… kinda there. I think it was more about how they directed it. Shame they’d already done Tom Francis’ Sunset Boulevard number at the Oliviers—doing it at Radio City could’ve been such a moment.

WHY in the world are they not doing Modern Major General? This is... a choice...

I have to think DHP didnt want to, unless they were hoping this choreography is what sells tickets for the next month or so?
Modern Major General is the only moment that really takes off in the show, so I agree an odd choice.

No offense - but why would anyone pay to see this show? Justin only by this performance.

After that performance, if I had a ticket to Pirates, I’d be selling it.

That performance from “Pirates” sure was… a song.

Ok, that's definitely neither true nor grammatically correct."
Apologies for the grammar. My phone is freezing up. I'll correct that.

Of all of the performances, so far, Pirates was my favorite.

So is Ramin choosing to do this instead of Chess later this year. Well to each his own and gives Nic a great opportunity but watching that I too was baffled why they didn't choose Modern Major General or even I am a Pirate King. Just bizarre.

I'd have given this to Justina Machado, but NVB is expected and well deserved.
Few surprises here- things are looking good for MHE (Dead Outlaw and Mincemeat surely had better scores, so this strongly suggests a MHE win tonight). Hecht feels like the only real misfire for me.

In the dress rehearsal thread, someone said both Megan and Jennifer performed from Death Becomes Her - was that a lie or did the performance change from yesterday?
Posted: 6/8/25 at 9:17pm
Did everyone at the Roundabout get together one day and say..."let's identify what people like about PIRATES OF PENZANCE and G&S"--- and then take it all away???

Yeah, I thought it was fun. I also had a great time at the show so I feel on an island with this one, haha.

I was also expecting to see Jennifer. Sad to see her not onstage.

Good for “Purpose” but I can’t say I agree with that win.
