"I mean, sitting side by side with another man watching Patti LuPone play Rose in GYPSY on Broadway is essentially the equivalent of having hardcore sex." -Wanna Be A Foster.
"Say 'Goody.' Say 'Bubbi.'" ... "That's it. Exactly as if it were 'Goody.' Now I know you're gonna sing 'Goody' this time, but nevertheless..."
I wouldn't trust a magazine that has only recently started including Broadway in their issues as a touch stone of this subject.

EW needs to hire me. Seriously. That list was ridiculous.
And you think of all of the things you've seen, and you wish that you could live in between ,and you're back again only different than before...

Another vote down for Seven Brides and Seven Brothers. It's alright but I rather see Evita. A few I haven't seen. I agree with LSOH, it is just so catchy. I enjoy Singin in the Rain but did that deserve to be so far up the list? I consider the source though.
Can't believe I didn't see the King and I? Did I go through the list too fast? South Park? Humm...funny but best Musical? Even Movie Musical? Makes me wonder.
They really needed to add My Fair Lady and Oliver. Both are terrific films, and took home the Oscar for Best Picture. But Once? I didn't think it was that great of a film. My Fair Lady was 100 times better as was Oliver.

Fiddler is one of my favorite musicals. Frankly I'm just so stunned by this that I didn't even start thinking about the myriad of musicals that should be on this list.
I forgot about Oliver! I love that movie
The morning star always gets wonderful bright the minute before it has to go --doesn't it?
I can't believe THE KING & I didn't make it but HAIRSPRAY and SEVEN WIVES FOR SEVEN BROTHERS did. That's pretty absurd. MOULIN ROUGE, DREAMGIRLS (yes, it had awkward musical moments but when it was unabashedly musical, it was mind-blowing), THE KING & I, and HEDWIG all needed to be there. CHICAGO and THE SOUND OF MUSIC should have made the top 5, or at least the top 10. I can't wait to see SWEENEY, NINE, and MAMMA MIA! and rate them among these other great musicals.

I actually love Seven Brides For Seven Brothers. I was happy to see it on the list.
<--- the set of A Midsummer Night's Dream that I was assistant stage manager for during the 2007 season at the STNJ outdoor stage.

You must remember all the same that at the crux of every game is knowing when it's time to leave the table... And it's important to be artful in your exit. No turning back, you must accept the con is done... It was a ball, it was a blast. And it's a shame it couldn't last. But every chapter has to end, you must agree. ~Dirty Rotten Scoundrels~
There's a special kind of people known as show people. We live in a world full of dreams. Sometimes we're not too certain what's false and what's real. But we're seldom in doubt about what we feel. ~Curtains~

People get so touchy when their shows are not recognized.
Don't worry, I was about to go, "What!? This as an outrage! How could they omit -- " and then I saw it. All good.
But really... no modern musical should make this list.
"Zac is sweet as can be. He's very much just a sweet kid from California who happens to have a face that looks like it was drawn by Michelangelo, (if Michelangelo did anime)." -Adam Shankman.

"Celebrating a birthday this week: Rene Descartes is 412! Do you know who he is? Then why are you watching this show? You could probably get into college and even get one of those job things. As for the rest of us; Amanda Bynes is 22! Yay!" -E!'s "The Soup"
FYI re: South Park -- no less an authority on musical theatre than Stephen Sondheim himself called South Park the best original musical (stage, film or otherwise) to come along in a decade and he even wrote a fan letter to the creators of it (Trey Parker and Matt Stone) to sing their praises.
