A NON b*tching Tony nominee thread

In the midst of all the complaining about the nominees for this year (ie: "Too much SPAM!"/"Where the f*ck is Maureen!?"/"More Little Women and BKLYN!"/"Wheres Raul!?"/"More Chitty and ASU!" etc etc etc) I'd like to begin a post where you each tell what your thankful to the nominating comittee for giving a nod. Discuss. :)

All of the Piazza nominations
Christopher Sieber and everyone else from Spamalot.
Cherry Jones

Overall, I'm pretty thrilled with what a great bunch of noms they turned out to be.

There's always room for pathos - and jazz hands.

im happy for Erin Dilly's nomination and for Norberts. I havent seen him yet but from what i have heard this year is his year.

Oh Im also so thrilled for Sutton. Although her chances of winning are slim, she deserved a mention.

I'm very glad Gem of the Ocean was recognized, as was Phylicia Rashad. I was afraid this show would get overlooked.
"I hope you're all happy, keeping Alan off the team. Couldn't you, for once, open your minds and hearts and hear something that he couldn't see? I, for one, am glad that Alan is blind, so he can't see what, I am so sad to say, you can't hear." -Jerri Blank

Two words:

Sara Ramirez.

Yaaaaay!! I love her. And Chris Sieber and the rest of the Spam cast(though I have to say I liked David Hyde Pierce better than Tim Curry, but no one's bitching), as well as Billy Crudup. And Twelve Angry Men.

Alright, still have yet to see Spamalot and Chitty, but of those I've seen I'm happy for:

The 4 shows nominated for musical, book, score, director, they all certainly deserve it, in light of what was left out.

Norbie(of course!), Lithgow, Clark, Sherie, Sutton, Joanna, Kelli, and Matthew.

Lots of noms for DRS and Piazza.

Piazza's technical noms.

Mary-Louise Parker... you are my hero... and yay for your Tony nomination!

Tee-hee... I was reading them in math class and did a little yell when I saw that... no one understands me... yeah, that's right, I got a little emo on you.

So psyched about the Piazza noms, especially for Matt and Kelli, obviously for Norbert, Joanna and Sherie, as well as MLP for Reckless, because she's a goddess. re: A non-b*tching Tony nominee thread re: A non-b*tching Tony nominee thread re: A non-b*tching Tony nominee thread

Very happy about all the Piazza noms.

My happy surprise was Bill Irwin for Woolf. I know the reception to him was mixed at best, but I really liked him - and meeting him afterwards turned out to be one of the more pleasant experiences of our trip. A genuinely warm and nice man who truly wants to give his all to the project.

I am very happy for Mary-Louise Parker and Laura Linney. I thought that they would be forgotten, but, in the words of Sondheim, "Happily, I was mistaken."

re: A non-b*tching Tony nominee thread

I forget...do the Tonys do what the Academy Awards do - last year's best actress in a musical presents to this year's best actor? (I don't have any old tapes here with me or I'd pop one in to check)

Because that would set us up for Idina possibly presenting to Norbert. I love little moments that reunite colleagues and pairings from previous shows (regardless of said show). (Not to mention onstage reunions like Sherie and Norbie!)

"At the opening night party, they had clowns on stilts, jugglers, a chocolate fountain, popcorn, hot dogs. [My son] looked at me like I had been holding back. Like, 'This is what you do?' I had to tell him, 'No, no, darling. Opening nights don't usually look like this.'
