Yes and we all thought she can not dance, we are all idiots
The above photo I took from curtain call.
@Clusmy How was she in the "Pursuit" scene (the beginning of Act II), and her acting overall?

It's not particularly good, but it works. She's by no means Laura, but no one expected her to be. She also needs some breath support. Badly. But I'm sure she was nervous. Her voice isn't my speed at all, but within the context of the show, as long as her acting is mediocre enough, she will be a great Cinderella for young girls.
I think it was absolutely wonderful! It reminded me a lot of Brandy. So glad her training didn't wore off. And the orchestra sounds great too
Very nice, and not an imitation of the wonderful Laura Osnes. She gives the song her own interpretation. I want to go back and see this cast.

Exactly what I said RW3. I am sure there were lots of nerves and she still sounded great.

Her interpretation of the song is very similar to Deborah Gibson or Jamie Lynn Siglet when they played the role on tour.

She doesn't sound terrible, but I'm pretty sure it's transposed lower.

Carly was delightful and the crowd adored her - any cheers or the full house standing o at curtain call were for her performance and not just her star power. Her costume changes were flawless.

I don't want to start a new thread about the new prince, but any word on Joe Carroll? I think he has been in for a week already. I never got the impression he was vocally strong, but is he a decent actor? Thoughts on his take on the role?
The new Madame costume gives me 101 Dalmatians vibes.
Wow. I'm eating my own words now. She sounds great. She isn't Laura...but that is a good thing. Laura is Laura, Carly shouldn't try to be like her. People on here will probably eat her for that, but she sounds great. FAR from the train wreck that many (including me) thought it would be.
She sounds fantastic!! So happy for her! Our Canadian on the great white way!!!
For the person who asked, it is indeed transposed down, I think by a half step? I don't have a perfect ear but that's what it sounds like to me.

Saw the show tonight. Carly was lovely. She sang it decently, her acting was very sweet, occasionally venturing into the ACTING 101 style. But still an enjoyable performance. Fran was funny, a bit forced when it came to the meanest moments, but she has a very warm stage presence and personality that shines through.
Joe was enjoyable. He has a nice voice, but its not particularly powerful. He sounded very good throughout, except for the ending of "Loneliness of Evening" when he drifted into bizarre falsetto and still strained to hit those last notes. His acting was good, nothing special. I missed Santino's personality and energy, he brought a lot more to it, I think.
Todd Buonopane was fine, Jean-Michel is kind of a throwaway role, but he does the best he can, just as Hildreth did. Stephanie Gibson is pretty mediocre across the board. She looks very old and tended to overact in an attempt to get laughs. Ann Harada was pretty similar, I thought she was amazing the first time I saw the original cast, but now she seems to just be walking through it.
Overall, the show tonight was enjoyable, but the flaws in the show shone through a little bit more with these replacements than they ever did with the original cast.
Justin - The Pursuit was done well, she took to the choreography very well. Her acting over all was strong, spunky, and sweet. With how well her first performance went, I can only see Carly getting better with each show she has under her belt.
Is it Christmas already again? I think you guys are being a bit charitable about that vocal.
Not to be sentimental but…
My first two Broadway shows that I saw were Sweet Charity (with Christina Applegate) and Guys and Dolls (with Lauren Graham); specifically to see the celebrity. I didn't fall in love with theatre like I am now because of those shows, but it opened me up into an entire new world. I hope Carly has that effect on all of the teenagers who will go to see Cinderella because of her and not the fact that it's a Rodgers and Hammerstein show.
The recording sounded nice. The breathing did sound weird (I'm not a singer or an actor) and she kind of sounded one dimensional if that makes sense? I can't imagine how nervous she was, though. I hope she has a great run!

Of course you haven't bothered to take into consideration you're listening to a bootleg audio probably recorded on a cell phone and then uploaded to the internet. Of course that's exactly how you'll hear it in the theater, right?

Not a perfect way o judge - but her pitch was slightly off in the beginning and she is cutting up the phrasing into smaller pieces because of breath control issues- not unheard of for pop stars.
