Some of her vowels sound odd. Another Boggess in the making!

Ok, just gonna come out and say it and I know it's only the one song but…I don't like it.

I'm curious, from the pictures of the curtain call it looks like they switched the order of the stepmothers and godmothers curtain calls, giving Fran Drescher the latter one. Did that happen?

One performance must have taken its toll. According to the Undestudies Twitter, Carly will be out for today's matinee.

That's part of her contract. She doesn't perform Wednesday Matinees and I believe Saturday evenings! Those performances are performed by Alessa Neeck.

Not a big CRJ fan or a fan of stunt casting. That much being said, I hope the new she and Drescher bring in the audiences and keep the show running through to spring. Any time people can stay employed in theatre it is a good thing.
Also, agree with promisespromises2 - if this brings some new theatre goers to the theatre for the first time - then I am a happy camper.

I'm glad that Carly is wonderful in the role so there won't be the undercurrent of "See the show on Wednesday night or Saturday matinee if you want to enjoy it!" like there was with the revival of Evita.

Wednesday matinee or Saturday night* ^
those are the performances she is out.
While I don't particularly enjoy that clip of her singing, I will still go to see her in the role. I saw Cinderella 3 times with Laura and the original cast so it will be interesting to see the many changes the new leads bring to the production.

I think I would honestly rather see one of Carly's understudies...... Does anyone know if Fran is planning on doing all of the shows? because I really would love to see Fran.

Don't worry, I read your post right! The fact that she's out the same days as Elena Roger, albeit different times, totally reminded me of the revival. Saturday night is a weird time to have off, though - that's when I think her older fanbase would most likely want to see her.

Marc - Victoria still bowed before Joe, with Fran's bow remaining after the stepsisters.

I missed the clip--can someone PM me if it's still available? Thanks!
Jimmy, what are you doing here in the middle of the night? It's almost 9 PM!

"Carly was delightful and the crowd adored her - any cheers or the full house standing o at curtain call were for her performance and not just her star power."
ummmm, exactly how did you determine that? Do you honestly think there wouldn't be cheers and a standing o even if her performance was only mediocre (or less)?

Thought she sounded great on "In My Own...". A few of notes, but that's live theatre. So happy that a fellow Canadian is making a great debut splash on Broadway. Glad she is making a lot of people happy in the role!

I'm honestly very disappointed. All of her pop stylization aside, I'm mostly disappointed in the fact that they had to transpose almost all of her songs. In My Own Little Corner is lower as well as Do I Love You and Loneliness of Evening, and they changed the harmonies on both of those duets, presumably because Carly couldn't sustain the original ones. The arrangements and orchestrations are one of my favorite parts of the production, so I'm sad that they weren't preserved after the cast change. Honestly, I think it's ridiculous that they couldn't find someone to play the role who could sing the original keys/harmonies, and the new harmonies really fall flat. I was hopeful because Carly has so much enthusiasm for the project and I appreciate her involvement in the Broadway community, but I'm sad that the show isn't getting the talent it deserves.

Just saw it. Really disappointed. Everything sounded like a pop song. Joe Caroll was good but not great. The only two who wowed me were Ann Harada, and Stephanie Gibson who is now playing Gabrielle. Yes, most of Carly's parts were transposed, or she took a different harmony, or something. Also, they don't seemed to have changed any of the choreography, and watching her try to do high kicks was quite amusing.
Jill Abramowitz was on for Victoria Clark and was really good.

NYCBound91, I agree. The musical arrangements in this production were stunning. I listen to the cast recording so many times. More than any other album I have. So sad to hear it is not still the case.

Re: arrangements. I love listening to "Do I Love You" on this recording. Right before Laura sings the second verse, the tempo changes and the music swells. It's a beautiful cast recording.
