Picture it, 2013:
Christie Brinkley is Sally Durrant Plummer
Robin Tunney is Phyllis Rogers Stone
Nathan Fillion is Buddy Plummer
Tom Selleck is Ben Stone
with special appearance by
Susan Sullivan as Carlotta (actually I could dig that)

Yeah, Susan Sullivan as Carlotta doesn't seem implausible at all.
I've long pictured Alison Fraser as Sally. Her natural fragility would perfectly gel with the dramatic needs of the role.

"You travel alone because other people are only there to remind you how much that hook hurts that we all bit down on. Wait for that one day we can bite free and get back out there in space where we belong, sail back over water, over skies, into space, the hook finally out of our mouths and we wander back out there in space spawning to other planets never to return hurrah to earth and we'll look back and can't even see these lives here anymore. Only the taste of blood to remind us we ever existed. The earth is small. We're gone. We're dead. We're safe."

Taking over for Peters has been done before, and very effectively, so why not repeat history? Reba as Sally. She'd sell more tickets and sing the crap out of the score.
If Liza played Sally, she'd HAVE TO perform her dance version of Losing My Mind.

Wouldn't she just cancel a couple of the concerts and stay with the show? I seem to recall she canceled a few when it was announced the show was going to move from DC.

A Little Careless-that was precisely what I was thinking, too. She can postpone them until her contract expires (or at least until after the Tonys). Or, she can cancel them if they don't appear to be selling very well. I highly doubt they would replace her before the Tonys. (Or that she would depart before them.)

Are any of these rescheduled concerts from those that she canceled for the production at the Kennedy Center? If so, I could imagine she'd hesitate before canceling.

Alice Ripley's would be more like "Losing my Voice". She sound horrid in the tour for NTN.

Had a feeling something like this would happen.
If it does, I think it might be a good idea to have Paige be Sally for the days Peters isn't there and just let the Carlotta understudy go on.

Peters' concert career is VERY lucrative. I imagine 1) she wouldn't want to disappoint her fans and 2) she'd want that dough! I know I would!
I actually adore the idea of Luker. Another Sally I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to see and hear is...
wait for it...
Judy Kuhn.

I like the idea of Kuhn. Sadly though, she'd sell about as many tickets to the show as my Aunt Esther would.

Unless your Aunt Esther was Esther Williams.

Well...same with Luker.
But you know as well as I that, for a certain subset of NY homosexuals, Judy Kuhn back on a Broadway stage in a stellar role that she'd sing better than anyone else has EVER, it would be a must see event.

^ And that subset would probably sell out two performances.
All things aside, Kuhn would be inspired casting.

The 1st cover for Sally and the 1st cover for Carlotta is the same woman (Flo Lacey) - and I think Lacey is MUCH better suited for Sally than for Carlotta.

Luker would be AMAZING!
But the only way she'd sell tickets was if she got a job in the box office.

While both Luker and Kuhn would sing the part beautifully, I would make the effort to get there to see Kuhn. If they were to go with someone like that, they'd need to add a name to another part. I know she has her TV series now, but Kathy Bates as Hattie or Stella for a limited time would help ticket sales.

Sadly, Kathy Bates is in L.A. with HARRY'S LAW right now. But by not getting a "name" for the leads they're sure as hell going to need a HUGE name for a supporting character.

I said in another thread that my dream 2030 revival of Follies would star Benanti and Kate Baldwin as Phyllis and Sally.

That gives Kate Baldwin nineteen years to find some stage presence!

Let's put Luker in as Sally and Ziemba as Phyllis and then we can all take a very expensive nap!

Emily Skinner has the potential to be an ideal Phyllis, especially with her newly svelte figure.

If Alice Ripley could still sing, she could be Sally to Skinner's Phyllis.
