I don't know, it is irrelevant to me, they aren't Black so while vocal stylingsmay besimilar, it's not something I can compare in those terms. There was an earlier suggestion of Heather Hedley or Tonya Pinkins, which is applicable only in that there are both Black women with very different voices from Audra. Still not really comparable in terms of the ACTING."
Audra is certainly one of our best actresses in both musicals and plays but Heather and Tonya are damn fine actresses.

Rubbish
The thought of a Caroline or Change-era Tonya Pinkins doing Mama Rose is exhilarating.

Oh right, the likelyTrump supporter, who albeit belts two songs in her show very well, has "meh"comedic timing, and essentially giving a caricature performance of herself to some degreebut couldn't act her way out of a wet paper bag standing next to either of the women in her category across 44th street. Much less the onewho has 6 Tonys in every acting category. You right, totally forgot about that. But don't call that racism or bias, the yt elders and daddy queens will FLIP round here."
With each of your posts, you sound more ridiculous. But congrats on the new "trolling" technique.

I don't know her.... but why does me stating how I know them amount to trolling?
I was trying to catch up on this thread but it sort of went off the rails. Is the new gist if I didnt' like Audra in the role I am now considered a racist? Am I interpreting that correctly?

yes but also there is a conspiracy to elevate Scherzinger by bringing down Audra. It's all totally normal over here.

It gets more and more like soap operas on here. You can miss a month but still be able to pick up where you left off.
I guess the Scherzinger bringing down Audra must be to offset the incessant Audra bringing down Scherzinger posts? LOL

That's two accusations of trolling...without actual engagement of my comments...if I actually wanted to troll this thread, I would copy it verbatim and make it a scene ala Eureka Day LOL
NO FOR THE LAST TIME, not liking Audra's performance alone is not racist. Why won't yall use the word unconscious bias? I never said that.

Maybe you mean not liking her performance isn't inherently racist. Saying she isn't a good fit because she doesn't sound like every white woman who has played the part is certainly a little racist.

One of our best performers cast in a role that just simply didn’t allow her voice to soar. Talented as they both as, their voice types were fighting against their performances the whole show. It’s hard not to imagine if Kelli had been cast instead of Sutton or Heather instead of Audra. Their voices would have fit the scores like a glove."
This is exactly what came to mind for me when I saw this veryrecently. Just not a good fit. And it is just a poorly conceived production. The rest of what is being written on this thread about critical race theory and racism and all theother attacks at peoplle that just did not like it .. is just a lot of blah blah blah. Someone has too much time on their hands. It just wasn't good. It is not that deep. Lordy."

Because I am conscious of the fact that I don't have an unconscious bias. Just because you think we do doesn't mean it's a fact.

Following your own rule of aesthetics, it's much more likely that not being Filipino, Ukrainian, Russian, or Native Hawaiian, you simply aren't in a position to effectively evaluate her performance. It's a Filipino, Ukrainian, Russian, Native Hawaiian assfact.

I actually think you're a little off-point here. Part of the reason for the push for diverse theater critics is EXACTLY because white critics have done a terrible job reviewing the work of Black actors, writers. They insert all kinds of unfair biases into their reviews.

To tell anyone here that they cannot evaluate a performance on the basis of their skinned color is absolutely unacceptable. Imagine anyone trying to tell a Black commentor that they don't have the tools to evaluate Sutten Foster or that anyone who isn't Hispanic could not possibly opine with any authority on the talent of Chita Rivera is insane.
Critics? Who cares about critics? I care about what we felt as audience members. And for me.. I felt nothing.
