For my two cents, I thought Audra was the most well-acted Rose, creating a real character arc - not just the “bull in a China shop” from the last note of the overture that we often see. I thought her approach to the racial realities of her character during that period were well-articulated. Her and George C. Wolfe really worked that into this production masterfully and it added new layers I appreciated. Unfortunately, I don’t think Audra is the most well-sung Rose, the transitioning in her voice frequently took me out of the story. But her Rose’s Turn, which was powered more by acting than clean singing, was thrilling and might be my favorite. Not my favorite revival or lead performances of the year, but a very solid and respectful entry!

Colbert tapes the same day that they air, generally.

true, it's as if these leads no longer can handle doing 2 shows on Wednesday or Saturday especially during TONY seasonas many are calling out for the matinee"
She’s out tonight as well. Just got the email from Telecharge.
Oh man. I hope she is ok. I am sure all actors hate when they have to miss.
Audra out again tonight!

Anyone have insight if she’s back tonight? I’ve got tickets for tomorrow night and am crossing my fingers she’s back by then…
There’s no alert on Telecharge for tonight’s show (there was last night), so it would appear she is back tonight.

I noticed that too when I went online to look at tickets for tonight just to see. Hoping she’s back and I can catch her tomorrow while I’m in town!

She was back tonight and in fine form! Understudies were on for June and Tulsa (both wonderful).
Will Audra's attendance affect her Tony chances?

Uninformed guess: No. Audra McDonald hasn’t missed many performances and my assumption is that Tony voters have seen her performance, and Nicole Scherzinger’s in Sunset Blvd., long ago. Everyone has their opinions and I doubt they are counting absences at this point.
Fair enough, although I don't know if I accept the idea that Audra hasn't missed many performances now. At this point, I think she has likely missed far more than Patti ever did and probably Bernadette too.
Voters don't give a crap about absences. (Unless, PERHAPS, they've gotten rescheduled a multitude of times).

Per Understudies.org, Audra missed 13 performances out of 173 the show had. Is that many? I don’t think so.
I have to Say Im lucky because I came from Brazil this week and she didnt do have the performances and still caught her on the show lol

That's a lot.
EDIT: Others are saying it's not a lot. Fair enough.
It's an average of like 2 missed shows a month since performances started at the end of November... in what world is that a lot?

Yea of course it's not a lot at all. Bernadette missed MANY more than this (although she was brilliant). It's one of the hardest roles in all of musical theatre, singing and talking almost constantly for 3 hours. Nicole has missed probably half of that and this is with scheduled days off, a dedicated Norma on other days, and only singing two songs and standing in the middle of stage doing nothing for half the show and off stage the rest of the time.

Nicole has missed only one, but it's not a contest.

Apples and oranges. If Audra had been only doing 7 shows a week for most of the run, who knows what would have happened.

It's like deja vu all over again. Not sure if it was you but the other day pretty much verbatim of "only singing two songs and standing in the middle of the stage doing nothing for half the show and off stage the rest of the time."
Just because you say this doesn't mean it's true. But I guess if you say it continuously maybe it makes YOU think it's true. Really childish behavior.

That is categorically false.
And Patti only had one (maybe two, at most) unscheduled absence(s) during her run. No one has missed as many performances as Audra, who despite her once-in-a-generation talent, struggles with attendance when her production(s) are not limited engagements, be it scheduled or slow box office. Now that is an actual fact.
