In the new story on the "Rent" cast then and now, there are two annoying things. First of all, Chris Columbus flat-out lies about Daphne Rubin-Vega, but we won't go there... AND... Adam Pascal has the nerve to say "I'd like to do more film, and frankly, there's nothing to do in theater. The material being offered is so atrocious, I have to move into film."
Um, excuse Broadway for keeping a freaky-looking non-acting rocker who can't even keep his rock voice in check employed for the last nine years. Good luck in the silver screen Adam. Me thinks you better enjoy "Rent" while you can.
umm...obviously none of you are in the loop regarding what's being produced on Broadway these days...would YOU seriously take a job in Lennon?? All Shook Up?? Good Vibrations?? I mean, come on!!!
There are more than just those shows, and there are shows that are being written right now. Of course there's horrible material on Broadway. There are horrible movies being made too. There are good in both, though. Updated On: 9/4/05 at 07:02 PM
I don't know. Matthew Morrison's finding pretty interesting jobs. But wait--I forgot--he CAN act (shockingly). And Idina found herself a nice show this fall... As did Taye Diggs... But wait--I forgot--they CAN act.
Yeah, I said yesterday when the article was originally posted on here that there really aren't that many great roles available, unless you're going to do a jukebox musical or be someone's replacement.
I mean, not that they're on the same level, but Raúl Esparza has the same kind of "rock" voice, and he's doing a kiddie show because there's nothing else out there.

Raul has worked steadily in a variety of great perfs since Adam sucked in Aida: Rocky Horror, Tick, tick, BOOM... Taboo, The Normal Heart, Chitty. I think Chitty was a conscious choice on his part to do something lighter. I would argue that it's not an ATROCIOUS job. In fact, Raul will probably make more money doing Chitty for a year than Adam will in a year of post-Rent film work.
Of course, Raul would have played Adam's part in the film had Spike Lee gotten his way. What a shame. Or was Raul up for Anthony's part? Either way--what a shame... Updated On: 9/4/05 at 07:07 PM
exactly...just because you love Broadway or love theatre and just because it has launched your career...doesn't mean you have to lie and look like a retard by saying "Broadway theatre today is great! It's so original and creative and inspiring and provocative!!" Why the HELL would ANYONE say that???
I would take a job in any one of those shows, without a second thought. Better to be an employed actor than an unemployed one. Maybe he has higher standards for himself than you do and isn't desperate enough for money to take any crappy job that comes along.

Zone - I know that. I meant he would not be getting any opportunities at all if it wasn't for Broadway. He def wouldn't be doing this movie, so he shouldn't insult where he got his start. That's what I meant.
WHAT?? How the hell is he an asshole for stating the truth??? If Idina Menzel came out and said George Bush is doing NOTHING to fix the problem in Louisiana right now, would you all yell BLASPHEMY?? Would that make her UN-American?? Just because someone states the truth doesn't mean they are a bad person. Not ONE person on this board could name ONE new musical on Broadway that is good quality.
Try.
I will prove you wrong. As will the box office reports. As will your conscience.
orange? are you saying you would rather be unemployed than be in ASU or Lennon? Honestly? Cause if so, you're a moron. Any trying to make a living as an actor isn't going to pass up a job just because they don't like the material. If you get to the point where you don't need to take jobs, and you can pick and choose your parts, then good for you, but, MOST broadway actors, don't have that option.
when ducks grow thumbs then maybe my opinion will change.
