re: Alice Ripley

blaxx, I completely agree. She should get another special Tony award for it!

re: Alice Ripley

I think it's absolutely an act. I mean, I get all the "she's crazy, she's crazy" talk, but she knows EXACTLY what she's doing. Entertaining fans, and selling tickets.
I love her. I think she's stupendous, and talented as hell.

re: Alice Ripley

Eos, I agree. I think she's passionate, certainly, but I've never heard any Kathleen Battle-esque stories about her.

re: Alice Ripley

I love Next to Normal. I love Alice Ripley. I love her singing style....

The woman deffinetly has a screw loose though. I think it is very nice how she spends time will all her fans and talks ( I remember one night I was waiting at Blithe Spirits stage door, and at 1140 we were told Angela and everyone else already went home. So I walked by Next to Normals stage door and I saw Alice chatting it up still with 5 or so fans, Which I admired)

But there is something wrong with this woman.

I dont know how many of you have her on facebook but if you do I hope you remember the whole "Alice Ripley is not a BOY" thing...

Since everyone requests Alice to be their mother, sister, etc some lady accidently hit the "Brother" or husband or something and Alice got infuriated even calling out the woman saying that she "Would never get a sex change for anyone, ecspecially some fan she just met at the stage door" and that she would be out of a job if she did something stupid like that for a stranger..etc... All of Ripleys fans also began bad mouthing the lady even after she kindly apologized for the accident.

LOL. Yes that is CRAZY.

Has anyone talked to her at the stage door though? I think we could probably gather in only a couple of minutes if she is really crazy or not.
Give me claws and a hunch, just away from this bunch.

re: Alice Ripley

She's just absurd. I love her.

(When I talked to her at the stage door she didn't seem crazy at all. She was a total straight shooter, and very kind.)

re: Alice Ripley

Sounds like a joke to me.

I've met her once or twice through friends, and she seemed perfectly normal to me. But honestly I have no idea. And I suppose people do change . . .

re: Alice Ripley

saveusmike , I know what you're talking about, but that's not how I remember that at all. I remember her post being another tongue-in-cheek sort of thing. I'm not trying to start an argument or anything, but I got the impression she was just being silly. I really don't think she was "infuriated".
Just my opinion.

re: Alice Ripley

Eos its perfectly ok. You might be right. I thought she was serious because I saw the lady apologized too her and I thought if it was just a joke or something Alice would have told the lady that.

You might be perfectly right though.

re: Alice Ripley

Wait some people thought this WASN'T an act???

re: Alice Ripley

This is not an act. I think it explains how she plays 'crazy' so well.

re: Alice Ripley

How would anyone know it's NOT an act? Especially if you don't know her personally. Meeting her at the stage door doesn't count.

re: Alice Ripley

I have met her at the stage door and I have known people who have interacted with her away from the theatre and we both got the same impression of her. And, that is that she is a very genuine, down to earth person. Nothing more, nothing less. I do think that this might be an act though I am not sure. But, I must say that the way her fans support her is something that scares me more then Alice Riply's actions do.

re: Alice Ripley

Of course it's not an act!!! That's like saying Idina Menzel can't really fly. I saw her do it onstage!

#42

re: Alice Ripley

Shoshana Bean's flying is more realistic than Idina's. It's like she flies right off the stage when you see her.
#43

re: Alice Ripley

I understand she's actually a bean.

re: Alice Ripley

She's just eccentric. You can be sane and unconventional at the same time. Saying it's an act makes it sound a lot more calculated than I believe it is.
#45

re: Alice Ripley

Of course this is all an act. And a damn funny one at that. Those videos were hilarious. It's all a part of the persona she tries to create. And gee, what do you know, it's getting people talking about her, the show, and maybe even selling some tickets.

She knows exactly what she's doing. And I like said, these videos are infinitely entertaining, so I hope she keeps it up.
#46

re: Alice Ripley

I think she's harmlessly eccentric, but I also think it's an act.

re: Alice Ripley

Exactly. Alice is eccentric. If you want CRAZY, look no further than this -
