Yeah, but Lea Michele has a neck and doesn't look like a man.

Now that I look at it, I think I see a little resemblance between Alicia and Lea. I hope wicked beast4 wasn't making fun of Alicia(I'll give him/her the benefit of the doubt). There could be a medical reason Alicia looks the way she does. I can't say for sure, but judging things like the shape of her neck it is possible Alicia could have a genetic/chromosome abnormality(however you want to describe it)called Turner Syndrome. OK, first of all, I just have to defend poor little Alicia. She probably got enough crap from her teammates for losing them the gold medal. I looked up Turner Syndrome, and I'm thinking probably not. It's more likely that she's oddly proportioned because she's spend her entire childhood and teenage years vigorously training to flip-flop around and hurl herself through the air, resulting in an unbalanced body fat to muscle ratio. She probably weighs like 90 pounds, with 78 of them being muscle. I wouldn't be surprised if all that training and dieting stunted her growth too. She's just lucky she doesn't have one of those munchkin-on-helium voices like Keri Strug. (Love her, by the way.)
I don't really see the resemblance to Lea Michele. Shawn Johnson, however, does look like she should be happily building toys in Santa's workshop.
"Hello. How are we today? I'm feeling a little blue myself. You know, a little anxious for no particular reason, a little sad that I should feel anxious at this age, you know, a little self-concious anxiety resulting in non-specific sadness: a state that I call 'blue'."

Colle - you don't accept PM's but I wanted to tell you how impressed I am with your observation. Not that I think she has it, but not many people know about the syndrome to have the thought even cross their mind. Main symptom is short stature so it would make sense for girls with it to be involved in gymnastics.
Kate-Monster I don't want to be critical but isn't it safe to say that Shawn Johnson went through the same "childhood and teenage years vigourously training to flip-flop around and hurl herself through the air."
I mean all those gymnists (spelling?) could probably beat anyone of us up, while maintaining a split position and sticking their landing so why are we being so critical about "flaws" that we, non-Olympians, see?
I think she's pretty. And, she does have neck. It's just an extremely muscular one.
I'd never want to put myself through what any gymnast goes through, or want my kid to do it, but I do admire their commitment.
Finish each day and be done with it. You have done what you could. Some blunders and absurdities no doubt crept in; forget them as soon as you can. Tomorrow is a new day; begin it well and serenely and with too high a spirit to be enbered with your old nonsense. ~ Emerson
She is pretty, just in some pictures (like in the first post), it does look like she has no neck. But she is very pretty, and I do see a resemblance. And I just googled Turners Syndrome, and there is no way she could have it. She looks nothing like a person who unfortunately has that disorder.

YoYo, I agree. That's what I was trying to say. I wasn't making fun of Shawn Johnson--I think she's totally perky and adorable. Looking elvish is not a bad thing, it's cute.
On a side note, I'm 30 years old and still look very much like a Campbell's Soup Kid, so I won't criticize anyone's appearance--expecially for looking young. :)

And for some reason, I think Shawn Johnson looks like Cindy Lou Who from "How The Grinch Stole Christmas." The live action movie. It's her hair and face. But, she is really cute, in a childish sort of way.

I love Shawn Johnson~! I'm really happy that she got a gold at the Olympics
Sacramone, on the other hand... not so much. Don't necessarily blame her for losing the team gold, but she certainly didn't make things better. Plus, she fell... twice
