Due to a meltdown between the producers and creatives, American Psycho is no longer going to be bowing at 2nd Stage in 2015.
Nearly ante'd up for a subscription when we were there for Sex with Strangers, glad I held back

Broadway instead? http://artsbeat.blogs.nytimes.com/2014/09/12/off-broadway-run-of-american-psycho-is-dead/

I have to believe this means they are taking it straight to Broadway, maybe Matt Smiths schedule opened back up?
I can't imagine that would be a great idea. They need to see if people even care in this country first.
Well, that sucks. Just reserved my subscriber tickets today.
Yeah, I would think this means they wanted the production to be bigger than 2nd Stage could handle. Or maybe they found the money for a Broadway run instead?
I agree it's not ready for broadway. It needs to be tested to see how American audiences react. If they can't get into Second, why not try New World Stages?
If the show does go directly to Broadway, I wonder if they will handle it in the same way as that Terrence McNally play "Deuce" that was originally announced for Primary Stages and then switched directly to Broadway when they got Angela Lansbury to star? Subscribers to Primary Stages were given tickets to the Broadway production.
I'm guessing Rock of Ages is announcing its closing and that American Psycho has the Hayes.
I predict this will sweep.
I doubt it. It sounds like 2nd Stage is putting someone else in its place. Still so odd how it happened.
Tough break for Second Stage. They printed up the brochure and just started taking subscriber reservations. Hope they get some sort of financial settlement from the producers.
I really hope it doesn't go straight to Broadway. I enjoy the score but the show needed an Off-Broadway run to fix things. I don't think they'll be able to get this to where it needs to be during previews on Broadway.

I saw this twice in London, but thought the production seemed a little cramped in the Almeida. Was terribly excited about seeing Benjamin Walker in his tight Calvins. Oh, and hearing that marvellous score again, obviously. *coughs*
It'll be a long time before I'm in a position to actually see this show but I'd kill for a proper soundtrack recording.
So Psycho doesn't go over well in London and comes to Broadway and Women of the Verge doesn't do well in New York and goes to London. Both shows sound like they would have benefited from some interim production somewhere.

^ Women on the Verge actually is getting an "interim" production--the regional company Theatre at the Center is premiering the revisions they're using in London, and this production starts previews tomorrow.
Hopefully they've made some changes since London and feel that they don't need another run to work out the kinks, but it sounds more like they just want to get it to Broadway and not spend extra money Off-Broadway.
I suspect that's the case. No one wants to spend money-they just want to make it. Sadly, it means that mediocre, half-baked shows arrive.
I still think Finding Neverland could likely use another run out of town-and Weinstein is clearly financially able to handle it. But, they would rather try and make a quick buck anyway.
Neverland has the bones for being very successful but it needs more than another out of town try out - probably needs a new producer who with an artistic eye. The Boston production, if it got another out of town engagement, could be better than it is but there are some big basic issues that no tweaking will fix.
