I think it's a great event for a great casue and a great deal too! They are being very considerate to the RENT fans by only charging 1,000 dollars a ticket and also having the lottery. They could easily charge a lot more and still sell out!
Lots of thoughts, actually!
Sueleen, DO A SEARCH. DUH.
I think the pricing is a little ridiculous. Maybe it comes from a slightly biased P.O.V because I REALLY want to see this and while I understand that its a benifit and will be a VERY popular endeavor, I think 1000 dollars for one ticket is just a bit much. I mean honestly, who among the general public of middle class Americans can afford 1000 dollars for one 3 hour show and an afterparty. I mean honestly. I want to go to this thing more then people could ever imagine (I was too young to see the OBC in 1996-) but there's no way in hell I can shell out 1000 dollars for one night. Again, I get that its for a good cause and I could understand maybe a few hundred dollars for a ticket but seriously...1000 dollars? That just seems outrageous to me because I get a feeling that the only people who could afford such tickets are people with amazinlgy high paying and steady jobs. Not trying to sound bitchy but rich adults who have that kind of money to spend. But my feeling is that most (though this is not always the case) people who would really be interested to see this RENT reunion live are into the theatre world themselves and probably don't have that kind of money to blow. Again not always the case by any means but I think ALOT of huge RENT fans (myself included) especially teenage fans who didn't get a chance to see the OBC when they were first in the show, will immediately be kicked out of the running for tickets and be shot down immediately with no chance to see this just because of how expensive they are and while it sounds whiny, I really don't think its fair. I speak from a personal level I guess becuase that's my dilema. I'm 16, I live across the country from NY and I was too young to see the OBC live and now my one chance to see them all live comes along and I'm immediatly shot down from the opportunity because there's no way in hell I can shell out that kind of money for a ticket. It sounds incredibly whiny and idiotic I know but it really does piss me off because its a thing I would give anything to be able to go to. OK sorry for the rant....continue on please...
Well, as as been said before...this concert is a year away. If you find a way to save or earn an extra twenty dollars a week, you can afford a ticket.
It is all very exciting! I can not wait until next year!
I'm, like, totally pissed....
I don't have thousands of dollars to see the show, cause, that’s what it’s gonna cost. I’m a total RENT FREAK HEAD and they need to treat me a little better. I have seen the show almost 200 times, so how can they charge me 10 hundred kajillion dollars to see the same show again? Just because it’s a benefit?! Gimme a break!
Where is the petition to sign?
I dunno but if one is formed, I'll sign with you and we can all form a protest. :-P And yeah, I know if I get a yearlong job and save up I could get the money but frankly, I'm a teenager with very little income and providing I could get a job that pays that kind of money and there were still tickets on sale when I saved it up, I don't really wish to blow it all on one ticket for one night. Don't get me wrong, I'm a huge HUGE RENThead and I'd kill to see the OBC cast but I'm also not really very fond of the idea of blowing almost a year on savings for one night. I just wish they'd lower the price a little. a few hundred dollars, I can handle but 1000? wow.
Diva I don't think Dreamcatcher caught the previous thread and understands your sarcasm. You made me almost spit my soda out though. Funny!!!!

hahaha! What happened to the other thread? What got it deleted? I clicked on it and when the page showed up...there was nothing! Lol.
Obnoxious behavior got it deleted. Rightly so.
His words did not live on.....
There is nothing funny about this. Charging the people who deserve this reunion (the FANS!!) $1000 is totally against what fundraising should be about. They were on the front lines, they saved this show. Without them there would be no RENT. And anyone who can afford to attend and is willing to shuck out that kind of money just doesn't understand what RENT is all about.
Haha! Remember "This thread will be living a year from now."
Anyway, the fans don't mean jack **** for this benefit. It's for CHARITY. Why can't some Rentheads get it through their heads - that this isn't for THEM?
Like you're negative attitude is really like bring me down. For real, like you don't just like get it. Like Rent forever dudes! (can't continue with a straight face...)

Obnoxious behavior by the person who stated it was obnoxious behaviour. Among other who are speaking on this tread.
I think it'd be nice if they filmed this for those of us who won't be able to afford to go...they'd make even more money for the benefit that way, and I bet there'd be a big market.
I posted that in the other thread but...why not in this one.
Quit the thread-jacking...let's get back to what it's all about...the FANS!!!

I think people are making too big of a deal out of this. If you won't be able to attend, I don't think its the end of the world. There are worse things. The Actors Fund and other such things have these kind of events on a regular basis. Its how it goes. Its a benefit- not a place for the teens who are like "ohmygosh I saw Idina in Wicked and now, I am like, oh my God, a total Renthead" and others to see the OBC and go into fan-gush mode. Its a charity event, not a opportunity for a gush fest.
Its not like you won't have a chance to see most of them- the movie is coming out and will be accesible to all at your local movie theater, wherever you live. There is also the free event in Bryant Park in August if you are in the Tri-State area.
They also plan to have a lottery-like option. So its not correct to say that no fan on a limited budget can attend. In that, it is keeping with the Rent tradition.
The price is steep, yes. I won't be attending, but is it the end of the world? No. Will they still sell tickets? Yes. Will it make money for charity. Yes. Is it line with other similiar events? Yes.
Get over it.
But KC...you missed the point. HE WANTS TO GO TO *THAT* PERFORMANCE. And as an uber-Rent fan, he DESERVES to go. Weren't you paying attention?
Silly me, haha. I know. Don't you just love the entitlement generation?
It comes back, to entertain me further! I'm so pleased!

I may be 20, but I'm also a college student with VERY limited funds and I'm still ready to drop $1000 to see it.
Dreamcatcher, if you really wanted to see it that bad, you'd find some way to make it work.
