Bluewizard, I didn't notice the Nadia thing until a couple of listens to No Voice either. I think I made that point in the suggestions to Bare thing from a few weeks ago. That needs to be clearer, sooner in the show, IMO.
It helps establish Nadia's motivation towards Ivy and what seems to be a kinship between Peter/Nadia. They have a couple of slight exchanges with one another. When I saw the show I was actually a little put off because it seemed like Nadia was judging Jason just as much as everyone else in the scene where he's outed because of her silence. I think the fact that she's not is a bit muddled and needs to be better conveyed or at least conveyed before the last song.

Actually, I kinda like how it's only revealed at the end that Nadia knew Jason was gay. It emphasizes: a) Nadia's patience and understanding ("always thought we'd talk one day," ie. when Jason is ready), and b) that Jason's fear of his own sexuality was a bit unfounded, as his sister would have loved him all the same. This makes his suicide all the more tragic.
But I love your observation that there is (or should be) a kinship between Peter and Nadia! I agree that the creative team should explore that a bit: Nadia is a such great character, but she is left to do very little in the show. She doesn't have much of a role other than making sarcastic comments and being a symbol of loneliness. It would be very interesting to see a bond formed between Peter and Nadia, and to explore that a bit. Right now, Nadia only interacts with Jason and Ivy (someone has said that Nadia also has a crush on Matt, but I don't see that at all).

I always thought Nadia had a crush on Matt because she is looking at him and trying to convince him to go to the rave both during the auditions for R&J (when they first mention the rave) and during "Wonderland". During "Wonderland" she is trying to stop him form walking out and convince him to go with them when Ivy comes over and says "Maybe...." He says "Alright I'll go" and then Ivy kisses him. I thought even though this was not shown through scripted lines or anything Natalie did a pretty good job of trying to convey Nadia's crush on Matt (sicne she didn't really have that much to work with. Also I always thought that par of the reason Nadia didnt' go to the rave was because she had a crush on Matt and was upset because he was so into Ivy and ignoring her. I don't know.... Just my opinion... but I think if they want this aspect of Nadia's character to come across better they need to make it more clear to the audience.
Yikes! That was my fault - I'm sorry. Ironically, the same thing happened to me before I saw the show -- some stupid review mentioned it too. It's the curse of the hot potato spoiler!
I hate to keep inciting hate towards Ivy, but she really leads Matt on and has him around her little finger, doesn't she?

Sorry for the OT, but I just came back from seeing Hairspray for the first time with Trisky and LOVED it. I was wondering if any of you saw John Hill as Fender or Link? I kept imagining how he would be and was inundated with the cuteness imagery! Also, what role did Adam Fleming play and did he understudy for Link as well? Sorry for the tangent but I was hoping for a little history lesson on the Bare boys from the experts!

John played Fender and understudied Cprny and Link. Adam played Sketch and understudied Link. I have seen every Broadway Link and understudy except for Jeff Martin..I will have to catch him sometime. Johna nd Adam were both great Links and were wonderful in their regular roles as well.
Thanks Broadwayguy! I so wish I had seen them in Hairspray. I'm sure they were amazing.

**Broadwayguy goes on an Adam rant.......NOW** One thing that I noticed, and that I have heard MANY people say, was that was one of the standouts, if not THE male standout in the ensemble when he was a part of that show. He just has this quality about him that SCREAMS "Watch ME". Not to mention his dynamite dancing and singing as Sketch and that scissor kick he did with the hot dog cart in Welcome to the 60s. And that adorable "Sketch" during the Corny Collins role call.
I'm going to see Hairspray when it comes to the Fox on tour. As you know, I'm a southern boy. I can't always make it up to NYC. What have you all heard about the touring boys?
Hee. Broadwayguy, I'm sensing you might be an Adam fan!
I didn't know much about him until I saw Bare and since seeing him sing "Volcano" at Joe's Pub I've been even more impressed with his voice.
The Bare boys and their talent....it's all too much!

By the way, can someone explain to me the scarf "joke" from N+R? I wasn't at Joe's Pub, never got to hear the song, cry myself to sleep on a regular basis for having missed these opportunities - and I'm dying to know what everyone's talking about in regards to that scarf!

YES< I AM a dork but I am PROUD of it! I gotta show the love for my Hairspray and Bare baby-boys!
Not much to chime in about when it comes to the tour boys.. I haven't been exposed to them as much.... I like them all though.. and Michael Cunio was GREAT in "The Fluffer"
The scarf joke is that in the premise of the song, two guys are checking each other out on the subway platform and the song lyrics are their inner thoughts. Guy #1 (Michael Arden) says something like "His scarf is too long". And Guy #2 (John Hill) says something like "He really digs my scarf".
BlueWizard, I wish I could fill you in but I can't really remember the exact lyrics. I know it was something about how incredibly long the scarf was and how John's character was sure that Michael's character must have liked it or thought it was cute while John's character thought it was too long or something. Yikes. Sorry I wasn't more helpful.
And Michael Cunio is in the touring company of Hairspray?
*Mental note...must find touring company of Hairspray and travel out to see it...*

Holy Mother Magruder, you and I are totally sharing a brain. That's so scary....for me considering I need all the help I can get in that department! :P

I just checked my email and saw that it was sent to all of the members of the Bare fan site.It is GREAT to see Mikey putting more of his stuff out there. I can NOt sing his praises enough.
Note to Mikey -- bring a cattle prod to fend off some of the more "pounce prone" guys....
