Yikes. Too bad that closed so quickly.
This makes me sad. Norbert Leo Butz deserved better
I enjoyed this so much, but the score was just too lacking. Sad. The actors were all fantastic.
This explains Bobby Steggert's tweet about moving to Portland. I enjoyed it very much.
It's a real shame, I was really pulling for this show. I know so many people that loved it, and some are pretty picky. Yes, we all agreed that the score was lacking, but there was enough of everything else to compensate for a crowd-pleasing evening.
Show business is a heartbreaker.

Someone better be getting those dressing rooms ready for some showgirls and skydiving elvis'
Anyone want to lay odds on Norbert still getting a Best Actor nomination for this?

The Neil Simon hasn't had much luck retaining a show for more a few months, I'm guessing Honeymoon in Vegas will be going the Neil Simon from the Spring.
When will the producers of musicals without big names realize that opening in the fall is a crapshoot?

Maybe they will keep the theater dark until Love Never Dies comes in.
sting.
Yeah, the Simon hasn't had a hit since Hairspray. Big Fish was so wonderful, I'm sad to see it go.
Opening shows @ anytime on Broadway is ALWAYS a crapshoot.
Butz not got only a nod but a Tony for Catch Me @ the same theater . If I were him I would steer clear of any show booked into the Simon for quite sometime.
I can't help but think how this would've done if Michael C. Hall continued in the role from the workshops
Yes, but it makes more sense to keep shows alive in the spring hoping for Tony recognition to turn into box office money. Keeping a show going from October to May can be looooong.
"When will the producers of musicals without big names realize that opening in the fall is a crapshoot?"
Opening any musical is a crap shoot. This has been proven thousands of times. And if you don't think Norbert Leo Butz is a "big name", you don't know much about theater.

Norbert Leo Butz does not sell tickets, as we have seen with Enron, Catch Me, and Big Fish.
You are very young, aren't you?
Yes, because the thunderous applause as soon as he walks out on stages makes him a huge nobody. Did you even attend Big Fish? Of course he sells tickets. Tons of people went to see Big Fish just for him. He is a star on Broadway and in New York. The huge draw was him, and he is not why this show closed. Sorry, sweetie.

That's a shame! I'll certainly have to go before it closes in December. It looks like rush has been rather easy to get, so if anyone hasn't seen it, that's a good avenue!
Butz is not a major theatre name. Why do producers open shows in out of town tryouts , get Luke warm reviews and than refuse to alter the show?
He's a huge star, a huge draw, and people come from all over the place to see him. He is a legend in the business. Obviously, you aren't very familiar with him and his two Tonys.
You are very old, aren't you?
