Just saw the show this afternoon. I was pleasantly surprised! I really enjoyed it. Bought a rush ticket about 11:15am today. It was in row A, which is the third row.
I was there as well this afternoon. Got a rush ticket at about 1:00. They were just opening up a few more when I got there. The theater was packed.
A very enjoyable afternoon at the theater. Yup, you saw the "twist" coming but even I gasped at how t all played out. Some people did more than gasp. There was also a big vocal reaction to the end of act 1.
The story is not all that complicated and, I think, is told well. Had no problem with Act 2. Really didn't think twice about her going to his hometown. I have to agree that her big 11:00 number was slightly lacking. She also seemed to hold back a bit. I could actually see it again. I did tear up. Also, the music is enjoyable but still not sure if I will buy it. I hope this show lasts a while. It really deserves to. JMO
If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it?
These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.
Got a rush ticket at 10am this morning just as the box office was opening. 3rd row center orchestra. Only $30; A steal!
I honestly loved the show. Totally saw the plot twist coming but my jaw still dropped with the second reveal we saw. I absolutely loved the score, the choreography and felt that all actors were fantastic.
I personally think a few lyrics need changing - too many repeated words but overall, I truly enjoyed it and will certainly be back to see it again / recommend it.

I noticed a while ago that when you post the last message on a page, it usually doesn't show up (or add an additional page) until another message is added. Very strange indeed.
"Contentment, it seems, simply happens. It appears accompanied by no bravos and no tears."
So this ended up being a show that hit me a day or so after seeing it. I keep thinking about it and humming "So Familiar". I can't compare it to any new musicals but I do know that I do want to see it again.
I'm seeing a lot of tweets at Steve Martin and at the show's account that people plan on repeat visits. I know I'm already planning mine, as well. Heartbreaker was the song I remembered the most, but the melodies from rest of them definitely came back into my head several days after seeing it.

I saw this tonight-- WOW. I was completely caught off guard by how utterly wonderful the entire production was. A friend invited me and I honestly wasn't much looking forward to it but my god I enjoyed it.
The score just might be my favorite on Broadway at the moment. And the entire cast is incredible, particularly Carmen Cusack who is beyond words sensational carrying this thing on her back. I want to see it again asap.
Has anyone sat in the balcony? I can get the first row, and I am wondering if I will be missing anything if I choose to save a few dollars and sit there.
I sat in the balcony and actually think it's a great view! Since the show does feature a fair amount of showy choreo, you can really take in the scope sitting a bit further back. And you won't miss any of the more intimate moments either.
Thank you phreak and neon! This is super helpful. Trying to stay within a budget this trip, so this allows me to see another show without compromising the overall picture of this one. Much appreciated.
