I do, but it's been a great Broadway season and I've already spent soooo much money."
True. LeSigh.
poisonivy2: So I am considering seeing this. Dithering between this and Mincemeat.
I just got home from Buena Vista and it is such a beautiful show. I saw it twice at the Atlantic and love how the direction contrasting then vs now has refined. I’d see it again if I could that’s how much I enjoyed the music. The lighting is also superb. I saw Mincemeat on Tuesday and it was good but I don’t feel like seeing it again even though it has a better book.

Anybody know what’s happening on 4/30 matinee? I had tickets for then but it appears to have been cancelled.

Has anyone done rush for this recently? What time did you get to the theater? Seems like rush tickets are partial view, do they offer rush upgrade option? Also, based on previous comments, if I decide to purchase partial view is left orch recommended over right? Coming in this weekend and I’d really like to see this one!
Just go to the tkts booth. Don’t risk partial for this one.
As expected, this is going on tour next season - launches in Buffalo fall 2026.
I finally got around to seeing this last night, and I really enjoyed it quite a bit. Natalie Venetia Belcon is doing some marvelous work. I thought the set and lighting were both top notch and just beautiful to look at. The book is paper thin, but serviceable enough.
The audience was one of the worst I been a part of in years - texting, photo taking, phones going off, people getting up and down, constant chatting... The ushers were on it, but, man, they were up and down those aisles with their flashlights A LOT.

This show isn't getting a theater audience. According to a friend of mine who works at the theater, the non-theater audience are much better at cooperating with the ushers than the theater audience members who are seeing the show, though both groups display a different level of entitlement.

Selling a Row G Seat 7 for tomorrow matinee for $80-100, its worth double, hit me maybe it could be even less.

You might already know this, but you might want to consider selling your tickets on the Theatr app. I've been able to sell several unused tickets in minutes if they're priced well below face value.
This show has done a Tiny Desk Concert as well — releases tomorrow.
Is there any news on a cast recording?

Thought their Tiny Desk concert was just fabulous.
OMG I just listened. Absolutely fantastic! I love that this show is doing so well, and I love that people from all over the world are loving it. Having this kind of diversity on Broadway is absolutely essential.

The decision to downsize the book in favor of the music was definitely the right one. This show has the best band on Broadway and Natalie is wonderful, though Isa Antonetti's Young Omara is just as good.
But hoo boy, was today's audience rough. People getting up constantly, scrolling on their phones, talking. It usually happens once or twice per show, but today it was pretty consistent.

I went in with no prior knowledge of the original album or artists and had such a fantastic time. The energy is infectious, the cast is super talented, and the band is phenomenal! It's definitely one of my favorites of the season.

This show doesn't get a lot of attention on here, but did they do any kind of first-show-post-Tonys special celebrations for their Tony wins? The videos of Sunset, Maybe Happy Ending, and Operation Mincemeat have been posted.

I think this is the prime example of a work about the experience of music, its meaning for people who see themselves as artists, and in some way the music is the protagonist of the play since the start.
Marco Ramirez's text tries to create an interesting story about the feeling of imminent change in pre-revolutionary Cuba, but it doesn't delve too deeply into the political spectrum that exists there, so the less we talk about the book, the better.
The four characters highlighted have interesting nuances, and yet the archetypes are difficult to break, even with some very dedicated performers. As it's the case of Omara, but the presence of Natalie Venetia Belcon is so powerful, she creates such a mystical aura that it is difficult not to get involved.
When it turns to the fantastic band on stage, giving in to the full latin vibe of the music and allowing the actors' bodies to engage in a choreography that combines classical and Latin rhythms with precision, the work comes to life so much that you see its full potential materialize before you. And then, it captivates you.
