"Zac is sweet as can be. He's very much just a sweet kid from California who happens to have a face that looks like it was drawn by Michelangelo, (if Michelangelo did anime)." -Adam Shankman.
"I haven't left this building since Windows 3.1!"
"Celebrating a birthday this week: Rene Descartes is 412! Do you know who he is? Then why are you watching this show? You could probably get into college and even get one of those job things. As for the rest of us; Amanda Bynes is 22! Yay!" -E!'s "The Soup"
I didnt think she was that great! That contest was all about how many youtube subscribers you had! But still congrats, that is going to be so much fun!
" I just want to go home and watch that show about midgets and eat a block of cheese!" Liz Lemon- 30 Rock
Minimal auditing was done on an ongoing basis throughout the contest, and then all the results were gone over with a fine toothed comb which resulted in tens of thousands of votes being disqualified due to automated voting scripts and other attempted methods. Everything was logged in a number of ways to ensure 100% accuracy in the final counting.
We KNEW how controversial a singing contest was bound to be.
The 10 runner ups will be getting notifications this weekend to arrange delivery of their prizes upon availability.
Thanks to all who participated, and we're hoping to do another one of these for a different show soon!
Well... the bottom line is that this was a great opportunity for fans of "The Little Mermaid" to have FUN! I don't know how anyone can be upset or feel they or someone else was treated unfairly. If the votes were audited, than that's that.
We can't release any voting logs for privacy reasons, but I can tell you that the final vote counts were significantly closer to 5k than to 13k. Nick wasn't far behind, and did do a fantastic job but that's how the final numbers turned out. We'll explore doing more ongoing auditing next time around to remove any post-closing surprises.
well I for one want to say thank you to the entire BroadwayWorld.com team for holding this contest! It was a lot of fun....and cut-throat so it seems lol :)
Everyone did a fantastic job and whoever won deserved it :)
Thanks for everyone who voted for me! I appreciate it!
May I offer up the suggestion that next time, you hold a vocal contest where you have a panel of legitimate judges who know vocal talent/ability look through all 100+ entries, and weed out the non-singers, the tone-deaf people, the lip-syncers, and the people who made a mockery of the whole thing all together, and narrow it down to about 10 finalists which the voting public may judge on.
The contest should truly be about talent and ability - not how many people you can get to vote for you. As we know with most vocal competitions (i.e. American Idol), the best singer truly never wins.
Hi everyone. This is Nick Pitera from the contest. Although I'm a little confused about what happened with my votes, I just wanted to say Congrats to both Jenifer and Katie. They are both VERY talented. I wish them the best and i hope they have a great time in New York!!! This contest was a lot of fun, and I'm sorry it got so controversial.
There was so much freaking talent in this contest, I was astonished. Congratulations to the VERY WELL DESERVEDwinners. (So nice to name TWO!) I only hope that Stephanie (the Star) is one of the runners up! Oh, and even if he didn't win, Nick Pitera is an amazing talent who will go much further than this contest could ever take him.
Really, everyone should be proud for the courage it took to enter, and for their talent.
Don't bash the people who ran the contest, so much is subjective (not to mention people just voting for friends regardless of who they thought was best) and these things are nearly impossible to do without some sort of controversy in the voting process. Hopefully they will learn from the minor "glitches" for the next time.
I would just like to extend my congratulations to both of the winners!! WTG you guys, and I hope you enjoy your prizes.. keep on singing and dreaming!
As to the contest itself.. sure, I was dissapointed, as many may have been... but we went into this contest knowing that it would be a contest of a popular vote.. I knew my chances in that regard were VERY low, but I did it anyway for fun and because it's what I love to do. It does us no good to fret over what we felt was unfair now that it's over and done with.. things always happen for a reason.. please just be happy for those who won!
As to future contests.. I do VERY MUCH hope that you will consider not using a popular vote method and rather a panel of unbiased judges... OR if you would like to encorporate the popular vote, make it so the popular vote counts for a certain percentage and the judges votes count for a different percentage..
Something like the winner of the popular vote gets 10 extra points, and 2nd place gets 5 extra points added to whatever the judges scored them on a 100 point scale
There are lots of different ways to encorporate the popular vote without it becoming THE determining outcome..
Just some thoughts for future contests..
Again.. congrats to the winner, and all my best wishes to everyone involved..
I agree...It was a real fun contest, and I for one was blessed by all the support from friends and people I didn't know. I enjoyed it-- THANK YOU BROADWAYWORLD!!!
As for future contests...I do think it would be a good idea to format it differently..Like with proffesional judges and stuff
