I agree with everyone who has said we won't know until the noms come out. As I stated earlier, I have my desires, sure. But I remember in early 2015, when we all thought The Visit and Honeymoon in Vegas were going to walk away the big winners. Or Bullets Over Broadway in 2014. The fun part of such a competitive season is that anything can (and probably will) happen!

I don't believe anyone thought Honeymoon in Vegas was going to be a "big winner" at the Tonys.

Neither women in War Paint are giving Tony Award worthy performances, and you are kidding yourself if you think otherwise. If one of the two were to be nominated, it'll be Lupone. It will be a showdown between Bette, Denee, and Eva.

Denee has really grown into the show. I thought her performance in the finale scene was truly touching. She won't win, but she is worthy of a nomination.

Denee and Josh are both credited above the title, thus no ruling needed to be announced in press, as that is the qualifications for being considered a Leading Role

Is there a thread for general TONY predictions? I know the "way too early" thread has not been updated in awhile... It would be great to see what everyone is predicting... What a competitive year!!

Did anyone else think Brittain Ashford can/should be nominated over Amber Grey? Grey had a great voice, but doesn't have much to do in the show and I honestly don't remember her much. Ashford was extraordinarily tender and sang the show's best song, "Sonya Alone".

As to War Paint - on the basis of the Goodman show I saw, and looking at the rest of the season, both will probably get nominated, but if only one does, it will certainly be Ebersole rather than LuPone. "Pink" is the show's stand-out number, and there were (at least last summer) some minor issues with LuPone's accent. The show's an amorphous ball of fluff, of course, but both probably should be nominated.

While you're certainly not the only person here who has expressed such a view, I simply don't get it. My husband and I saw two different performances and we both thought she was terribly miscast and completely out of her league. We thought her voice weak and her presence sorely lacking for the role. She was unbelievable as a center-of-attention girl for whom other characters would go to great lengths and she made the premise of "Charming" incredible. Throughout the entire show, I found myself thinking that this role needed someone like Sierra Boggess; she's a bit too old for it, but she has the necessary vocal skills and the stage presence.

I saw the show in Hartford and she's unbelievable. Stop using the word lock, though. You put keys into locks.

My money is on Bette winning.

Sunday chose to remove themselves from the Tony race because they have a small profit window.

So they did that because they want other shows to be nominated to try and help them out? That's ****ing dumb. Everybody should be eligible. This is about excellence in theatre, not about helping other shows sell well.

Also, why isn't the show just running longer anyway? They should find someone to replace Gyllenhaal.
