Alice Ripley going on for Marcia Mitzman (Mrs. Walker) in The Who's Tommy a week or two after the Tonys that year. That performance stuck with me forever and I knew immediately that she was someone to watch. I didn't see Marcia so I can't compare, but Alice was simply thrilling - her Smash The Mirror was out of this world. I really wish she'd record that track or maybe a few tunes from that score. It fit her like a glove.
Sierra Boggess as Christine yes i know she was the star of the show but i went to a Thurs matinée of Phantom and she was not scheduled to perform so she was on the board and we got white slips white slips :) great surprise
Stephanie Torns as Jenna in Waitress. I've seen the show with Jesse Mueller, Nicolette Robinson and Shoshana Bean as Jenna and I like Stephanie Torn's version the best. I think she was the most vulnerable and really inhabited the character.

I would like to basically nominate the entire cast of Waitress You could pretty much see the entire show with understudies and they’d knock it out of the park
This goes all the way back to 1989 . . . Ruthie Henshall in for Claire Moore as Ellen in “Miss Saigon”. She was electrifying and the audience went wild after her solo song. No surprise when she went on to greater things.
