Best understudy you've ever seen?

Colton Ryan in Dear Evan Hansen

Darlesia Cearcy in Shuffle Along

And most recently, I saw Tony Roach as Henry Higgins in My Fair Lady yesterday and he was amazing, I liked him better than Harry on the cast recording. Love Bart's updated ending too

Bibi Osterwald went on for Pear Bailey?! A white Dolly in an all-black cast?!

Best understudy you've ever seen?

Tee Boyich as Cady in Mean Girls . I saw her last night and she was amazing. (I can’t help but think she should be leading the show every night).

Stephanie Torns as Jenna in Waitress. Wish they would give her the role outright!

I feel like I've raved about him so many times on this website, but until he gets the recognition he deserves- John Rapson as Javert in the Les Mis revival was unreal. I still think about it all the time and its been years.

Van Hughes as Link Larkin in Hairspray will always be extremely memorable for me. I thought he was incredible.

I regret not having the chance to see him go on as Javert but got to see his Sweeney Todd several weeks ago, and he was magnificent. Some of my other Les Mis favorite understudies were Kurk Davidson (going back to the 3NT) and Nathaniel Hackmann (saw him as Quasimodo in a production of Hunchback this summer and he was equally fabulous in that show) as Valjean and Andrew Love as Javert.

Just saw Stephanie Torns today as Jenna in Waitress, she was sensational, in fact I preferrred her to Jessie’s. She’s truly is giving a star making performance.

Best understudy you've ever seen?

Loren Lott as Ti Moune was incredible. I was hooked and loved everything she did. I saw Courtnee Carter this weekend and she was great but Loren had me hooked from the beginning. Maybe it’s just the way they play Ti Moune- Loren’s Ti Moune is very strong and independent and Courtnee’s is soft, innocent (at times I couldn’t hear her talking she was so quiet).

The other understudy I loved was Olivia Puckett as Alana Beck. It was right after Kristolyn Lloyd and Phoenix Best starting. I was so looking forward to seeing Phoenix Best but it was a nice surprise to get the understudy slip for Olivia Puckett that day!

Thought the same thing when I saw her as the Elphaba understudy in the Wicked tour ten years ago.

Ooh this is hard.

- I loved Eric Scicotto as Nigel in Something Rotten.

- Javier was a much better Hamilton than Lin in my opinion

- Emily Koch as Elphaba in the Wicked tour

- Jonathan Wagner as Dewey in School of Rock

- Julie Reiber as Beverly in Come From Away

- Scott Stangland as Pierre in Great Comet

Troy Iwata blew me away as Michael in Be More Chill. I liked his “Michael in the Bathroom” even more than Groege Salazar’s.
