Now this is random but do you think Beyonce could play Christine in POTO...if she only had to do it for 4wks...now you really have to think about this..cause I did and I thought she minght be able to do it.

Does she have the range? Christine ain't the usual pit stop for celebrities. It's vocally pretty demanding.
From seeing what I saw on the Oscars and what I've heard on the DC Christmas ablbum....I really think she could do it...I'm not saying she could do it months on end..but she could do it.
She may have the range (may....I don't know), but I really doubt that she has the correct vocal style to play Christine. Her voice doesn't strike me as operatic in the least. Then again, I may have just not seen everything that she can do? Updated On: 11/13/05 at 02:20 AM
U have to remember that the show is actually a rock musical masquerading as a operetic show. I can actually see Beyonce singing "The Phantom of The Opera", "Wishing You Were Somehow Here Again", and "The Point Of No Return".
Okay, but even faux-opera... I just can't picture Beyonce singing "Think of Me" and it fitting into the musical.
Anyway, this a non-issue in reality, because there's absolutely no reason she'd ever want to do Phantom of the Opera. She has much more lucrative projects in the works.
I am not just saying this because I am a fan of Beyonce's vocals but Beyonce is...classically trained. Her octave range is an amazing 4.2 and continues to extend.
Absolutely she could do it...Beyonce' vocals are underrated because she sings pop music for profit. Most of today's pop music lovers could careless if you can sing or not...they just want music that make them happy and simple.

Thats what I thought...and I was I'm sure she's been having it trained since she was little.
...I am too excited about this question. But if anyone want to heard any of her numbers from the Oscars, I can upload them.
I realized Beyonce' could sing opera after hearing her releasing on her highest note and in the same night her lowest note. I was floored. I thought, "She should be out of pop music and into ...the meat of entertainment - live theatre productions"!!!!

Well, she couldn't be worse than Emmy Rossum.
well..i don't know if anyone remember when Beyonce sang a part of the opera song "Carmen" for a Pepsi commercial ....she sounded great...but she can't go as high as Sarah Brightman in Phantom. On the other hand Melanie Griffith would be great as Christine. No...seriously...Beyonce, as someone said before has more lucrative projects and im sure she doesn't want to be on Broadway...and she made very homophobic comments criticizing the kiss between Britney and Madonna and was totally rude to the fab 5 when they gave her an award...i can't picture anyone who is not gay friendly on Broadway!
Was she actually classicaly trained?

Totally off topic...but I had a dream that I met Beyonce last night...I called her Katie and I was like, "Oh my god, I just called you Katie! *laughs uncontrollably* I'm sorry, I'm just so nervous about meeting you! I'm shaking! *lifts arm to show he is shaking*
That's all. Back on topic...
She has the range, and she can def. sing, but I haven't heard her sing anything resembling opera, so I couldn't say. It would be really interesting to see though.
Have there ever been any African American Christines?
She couldn't play Christine in the musical based on the Stephen King book...and that was a CAR!

I think this thread is on crack.
LOL---This thread is on crack! Too funny.
I wouldn't want to see Beyonce play Mama Rose either.... or the Phantom himself, for that matter.
But I do think she'd make a great Roger in Rent.
Honestly, I have no doubt that if Beyonce wanted to play Christine, she would figure out a way to approach the songs intelligently. She's not just a good singer, she's got a great ear... meaning that she can adapt her voice pretty damn well to fit a song's style, instead of trying to adapt the song to fit HER own style. This is what actor/singers ought to do in general. It's not any different than putting on an English accent for a speaking part. If you watched Beyonce closely at the Oscars, you could see that she approached each nominated song differently. She didn't just open her mouth and sing everything ala "Destiny's Child" and walk away. I was very impressed by her efforts.
I don't think she is homo - phoic (sp?) ...she was so hurt about how people thought that about her. 1/2 of her choreo. and 1/2 of her personal assistant are gay and been with her for over 9 years. And she love them to death. That kiss between Britney and Madonna...is whole different topic...and it has nothing to do with being gay. I probably would have appreciated more...if it was a gay couple.

Yeah Beyonce is classicaly trained
and Beyonce even said that she wanted to be the first African-American Woman to have a Tony, Oscar, and Grammy.
Im sorry....but that sounds way too ambitious. She should focus on something else but winning awards.
ellenoshalom didn't u see how she treated the gay guys from "queer eye" it was as if she was gonna catch "gay"...i was offended!!!
Now this is VERY technical, but Whoopi has her beat. Tony (producing Millie), Grammy (Best Comedy Album), and Oscar (Ghost).
