Breaking News: SPIDER-MAN Announces New Creative Team; Delay

a few things

1. Glad I asked Ticketmaster for a refund - and got it. I was suppose to see the show in April but when I read that they were bringing on a new writer (this was a few weeks ago) I knew this ship wasnt going to sail...and didnt want my precious time in NYC to be tainted with what clearly isnt a good show - alhough if i lived in NYC i would def see it...

2. Its all kinda sad...

3. Ms T isnt very nice

"So it's going to re-open in 3-5 weeks with a new book and a new director... doesn't that technically make it it's own revival?"

Interesting to ponder, but can you be a revival to a show that never opened?

"Interesting to ponder, but can you be a revival to a show that never opened?"

well Little Shop of Horrors was considered a revival in 2003 and it was the first broadway production...

havent we heard this before almost word for word...we are making extensive and exciting new major changes to improve the show and as it is so technically advanced a show more time is needed to work it in so this requires an extended preview time....well you know after 5 extensions we dont beleive you this should have been done.....NOBODY puts a show up without an ending that was just a blatant slap in the face to all theatre goers....you want us to pay for your rehearsals and workshops....i thought finally they have come to realze whats wrong and would shut down make it right then open to previews but no they are going to continue to charge 100 140 even 300 bucks for seats while they work on something new now then maybe in june or july we will see it....really so the public will be paying top dollar for something that bono is now goin to strip down and rebuild....why this producer did the same with lord of the rings....just keep workshopping it with a paying audience...this is not about wether the show is good or bad this is about bilking the theatregoers for money so you can get paid while you write a show....and that is the lousiest thing producers could do....

^ My eyes hurt.

well Little Shop of Horrors was considered a revival in 2003 and it was the first broadway production...

Totally different situation. It was called a revival because it had a major off-Broadway production before. A production that had actually opened. OLEANNA was also considered a revival even though it had never played on Broadway before.

No Tony for Spidey. It's too bad they won't get to perform on the Tony Awards.
If anyone ever tells you that you put too much Parmesan cheese on your pasta, stop talking to them. You don't need that kind of negativity in your life.

They need to release more little clips of the shows to re get peoples attention. The brief clip of Rise Above is great and shows the show in a positive light. The producers are great at releasing statments that are normally about something negative but not so good at the positive.
Namo i love u but we get it already....you don't like Madonna

ARE YOU AN IDIOT???

IF THE PUBLIC HEARD SONGS FROM THE SHOW TICKET SALES WOULD DROP!

They're geniuses at marketing. The show is selling and most audiences hate it. Spidey's been in the public eye alright, and they haven't had to show a thing.

Perform Deeply Furious on a talk show. I DARE them. See how many tickets they sell from that pile of crap.

Exactly!

And seeing Deeply Furious made me realize that Out For Blood wasn't the worst song ever written for a Broadway musical.

At least Pitchhford/Gore didn't have the balls to make it the 11 o'clock number... Oh, Spidey!

I agree with songandance. Maybe not in the beginning but after things started happening, i would have gotten some other video of the show out there besides the one that shows bits of the show along with the rehearsalsand this 20 second "Rise Above" teaser. And just how well are advance sales doing? It fell to 84.5% last week. As far as talk shows, haven't they already done Today and GMA a while ago? I saw the three leads interviewed on the CBS morning show about a month ago. They can't have them on every week. I think their mistake was thinking the show would sell itself with all of the promise of flying, etc. and even with the problems thought it still would. JMO

So they release a clip of the character that virtually everyone has issues with? smart.

^ They still need to work on writing the changes. They are not ready to start rehearsing them yet so they might as well just keep performing in the mean time.

I completely agree with the fact that there should be more media clips out there. They can really help shed some positive light on the show and gain interest by getting media out there. With photos and videos they can really highlight and focus on the stunning visuals.

Kevin -- because they can't afford NOT to. It's all about the $. They've been saying since NOVEMBER that it's a 65mill dollar investment, although most believe that number has gone up substantially -- between the delays, the new creative team, the fines and now buying Julie out -- no one has heard a new figure, but it must be getting close to 100 mil.
