I'm surprised The Encounter hasn't announced they're closing early.

Oh I think it's mostly Groban fans. Superfans I'm not sure. But Groban fans yes.

Because I prefer to listen to my audiobooks alone in my car.

The Encounter is a limited run that is supposed to close on January 8th. Though I wouldn't be surprised if they pack it up before then.

Glad to see Jersey Boys will be going out with a bang. Not nearly as glad to see that The Color Purple won't enjoy the same honor. Though Cynthia was out for a couple days last week again so that probably didn't help.

What happened to Hamilton - $1million less than the prior week? Were ticket prices during Thanksgiving week marked up?

I'm making this number up but I think Comet is 70-80% Groban, which does not bode well if true.

If true, they would be fine until July as he just extended. Everyone is boding along just fine.

I wonder how much more he will be making for extending.

As a theatre goer who will be a tourist in NY this May, and one who has purchased Comet tickets, Groban had zero to do with my purchasing tickets. I actually couldn't name one of his songs (yikes?) And at the beginning I was torn with a lot of positive reviews but at the same time a lot of negative ones as well for this show. But in reading every review I could find, the more I read, the more I got the feeling that for the most part (ok over generalizing perhaps) but MOST of the negative reviews I saw were from either people who went strictly to see Josh Groban and cared little about the actual play, and maybe tourists who would maybe enjoy a more mainstream type production. This production seems to be appreciated more by people who have seen many types of productions and who can appreciate something a little different rather than step on it because its different. Could be totally wrong, but just my take for what its worth....
