Broadway Grosses: Week Ending 2/18/18

Forgive my ignorance, but is this kind of pan-Broadway jump in attendance/grosses typical for Valentine's week? I always thought late-January and February were one of the danger seasons for a show.

I was about to type in 'why can't every week be President's week?', when I saw your post. President's week-end always provides a boost at the box office. Also, and this may be directly tied to President's week-end, some schools are already having winter breaks...I guess attaching to what is already a three-day week-end.

An almost $225, 000 increase for "Chicago". Yay!!

Oh! That makes sense; thanks for the response. I think a lot of schools do pick Presidents' Day week for their February break, at least up in this area (New England); they already would be taking Presidents' Day off, so they only have to cancel 4 days of classes instead of 5 when building the schedule for the year.

I thought Sara missed at least two?

Happy for Hello, Dolly! This was again another week that they have managed to sell a lot of tickets at the last-minute, which hopefully bodes well for the future sustainability and/or worth of mouth. With the reviews coming out next week - we can keep looking up!!

I highly doubt any of these would close up shop so soon. I can imagine ISLAND and SPONGEBOB holding on until the Tonys and PLAY THAT GOES WRONG going up until the end of its July 1st extension ending (since its cheap to run). I don’t see BEAUTIFUL being toppled since it’s become a Boomer tourist show.

KINKY BOOTS is the only one that I think will have some make or break weeks ahead since their replacements aren’t exactly setting the box office on fire. I think they may be done come Labor Day at the latest

Why would two sold out shows affect it? If anything, they can get the people who the other two shows are turning away...

School of Rock has been going so radically up and down lately... Spongebob and Harry Potters audiences are too similar, and Harry Potter did take some Spongebobbers. I'd seen Spongebob and now I'm seeing Harry Potter, so I could see many other people doing the same thing. Frozen only has the little children though.

Sounds like a symptom of narcissism - assuming that "many" others will do what you have done.
