Wow, Hairspray is doing stellar business! And Blonde is over a million again; good for them. Drowsy is doing a bit better, but still low in the grosses; i'm pulling for them.
Well it is tourist season, lets see what the fall #s say.
I'm pulling for Xanadu!! Let's get that number even closer to $400,000 next week! Way to go!
Jesus. Looks like Anthony and Adam doubled Rent's money.

RENT... WOW! Very Nice!
Whoa. Look at RENT.
Oh My Goodness! RENT! If the numbers stay like this, I bet the producers are going to try to get Anthony and Adam to extend their stay, which would be fantastic!
It was just like I pictured the grosses would look like for RENT, yay!
very weird to not see BATB up there....straight from A to C
i too am interested in fall numbers...and again: nice showing with the OBC returns for RENT

Harley Jay and Declan Bennett have already signed their respective contracts for a September 10 starting date. I can't imagine they're just going to step to the side to let Anthony and Adam continue, even if they wanted to.

They don't have the say, the producers do. If they want the anthony and adam to stay, there's nothing harley and declan can do to stop it.

Even after they signed their contracts? Hmm...I don't know how true that is.
wooh wooh well done Blonde and Rent
I would be extremely surprised if there were not clauses in both Adam/Anthony's contracts and Harley/Declan's contracts opening up the possibility for an extension for Adam/Anthony that would put off the starting dates for Harley/Declan. The producers aren't stupid.
Wow, a very strong week. RENT is finally up there. Hairspray made a BIG mistake in letting all those discount codes out.
RENT made more money last week than ever in 96, 97, or 98 (and then I stopped looking). How exciting that seeing them back has brought a renewed life to the box office.
That's because the tickets were quite cheaper.
Yeah I know. If you look at how many tickets were sold then compared with now, it's quite different. (Though the last week of December 2001 they made more money.)
I am very curious to see if Rent is frontloaded and drops a lot next week. I think Adam and Anthony's return is going to appeal only to a select number of hardcore fans. I think even the average theatergoer doesn't have a huge desire to go back and see Rent just because these two very talented men are back in the game.
Then again, I could be eating crow next week. I guess I'll have to wait until then to see.
There are a lot of die-hard fans out there...
Woah, it's surprising to see those figures for Rent, but it's not surprising in a way because bringing back Anthony and Adam were bound to make the attendance full.

I think the Anthony/Adam thing might last for a little while, but not enough for them to extend further into the fall.
There are shows like Avenue Q that I'm just suprised are still running. It's a great show, I just forget it's running.
Well, I'm sure I'm going to offend a lot of Rentheads, but to me, this is the worst type of stunt-casting. We are always accusing the producers of shows like Chicago and Hairspray of bringing in stars to boost ticket sales. Well, Rent is bringing in two stars who are both way too old for their parts. Worse, this is not to bring in a potentially new group of theater fans (like bringing Usher into Chicago). This is to bring BACK dedicated fans who have all probably seen the show multiple times already.
I'm a RENThead and I'm not offended, I just disagree. This isn't bringing in "stars" like when Drew Lachey played Mark (and was horrible). This is bringing in Broadway people who are very talented, and if you didn't already know how old they are either from looking it up or from their previous runs in RENT, you wouldn't know they're "too old" because they look as young as they did then.
That being said, I'm glad they're back just so I get a chance to see them more than anything else, including what their run does for the box office, though that's great too.
And I think the numbers will stay up while they're there, because there are fans coming from all over (like myself) to see them. No, this wasn't a ploy to bring in new fans. But it is making a lot of older fans happy.
