The Lion King was definitely on TKTS last week for at least one performance that I know of.
I wonder if last week marked the first week of a new block of tickets for The Outsiders. I’m not sure if The Outsiders caters to last minute tourist sales as much as Wicked or The Lion King.
Australian here. I’ve cancelled my trip this year. The media here is full of stories of Australian’s being turned back at the boarder. Add in boarder officials asking now if you have social media in anyway and checking if you’ve said any negative about Trump. I’ll just spend my holiday dollars in London instead. Qantas just dropped a sale date to Los Angeles for $800 return and are struggling to sell it.
When I flew down to San Francisco last month nobody asked to see my phone or about my social media. Vancouver Airport has US Customs pre-clearance, so you go through Customs before you get on the plane. If they wanted to they could take an hour to look at everyone's phones. But they just want to stop people who are dangerous or sketchy. It's all media hype over a few people who were doing shady things like trying to work without proper permits.
Also one of my co-workers drives down to Seattle frequently for Mariners & Seahawks games & hasn't been hassled.
I love the USA!
Yikes Chicago. I cannot recall a weekly gross % in the 50s during a summer (almost fall) time. Hurry Mira!

You are probably right but I just don't see it. Hehas essentially done nothing since the series ended (certainly anything of note) and I don't see why people would buy tickets just to see Draco Malfoy all grown-up. But I have been wrong before, so we will just have to see. It has been a while since I saw the show, and I don't really remember...does adult Draco even have much to do?"
Nostalgia is a hell of a drug. Think about Alan Cumming return for another year of doing CABARET after having last played him 15 years before, Ellen Greene in the 2015 City Center LITTLE SHOP, or Dee Snider joining ROCK OF AGES.

I would not equate Tom Felton with Alan Cumming or Ellen Greene in those particular roles. I never saw Rock of Ages, nor have I heard of Dee Snider, so I can't evaluate that one. Again, I expect to be surprised, but am still amazed.

I don't doubt what you say, but I think you need to realize you are in a very privileged position compared to a lot of folks who might want to travel to the US.
I can tell you that I, a natural-born US citizen, have encountered extremely burdensome experiences coming back to the United States after traveling abroad. Like, they're looking over every little thing in my possession and asking me probing questions to try to get me to say something so they can detain me further.
Given that, I can't imagine why anyone not a natural-born US citizen would want to cross that border.
The US border is extremely intimidating. I still don’t understand why they need to carry guns. And I love the US too but I always find it odd to be treated like sh%t at the border as if I need to feel so lucky to be there. Gurrrrls look at the Broadway grosses at this point clearly you need me there more than I need you.

‘I love how you think because you didn’t have an issue that it’s a media beat up. The new incoming passenger cards, now ask do you have social media. Now as a person who’s a flight attendant and for over 11 years did a weekly run between Australia and Los Angeles that question has only been added since Trump’s return to office.
Try in future not to discount other people’s experiences. Hard I know for you, but give it a try!
Rosscoe(au) since you’re still using a photo I took in my bedroom from that Into the Woods concert they did on the wicked set as an avatar, can I one day be repaid with a standby QF first flight? PLEEEEASSSSEEEE :p.

I don’t know what you look like, but I’d presume you’re a white presenting and English speaking Canadian. Obviously, your experience coming to the US and the way you’d be treated is going to be vastly different than someone visiting from Mexico, or even a white Australian whose accent is starkly different than North American English.

I know that sounds logical, but you underestimate potter fans. They are DESPERATE to hold onto any sort of potter related nostalgia, so something as big as a major character being reprised by the original actor is destined to bring in much more than they've seen in a while. I'd imagine this will pull in people from around the country who are able to afford it, which isn't many nowadays but still. Tom Felton could walk onstage, cough, and leave, and people would still show up. At least that's just my two cents.

if you look at BWW’s line graph comparing this week to the previous few years, you will notice every year has had a steep drop during this week. In fact, the grosses for this week over the last several years have all been similar. The difference this year is that the grosses were higher in the previous week, making the fall appear worse- but taken as an aggregate of the summer overall, this has been the pattern for this time of year. And fwiw, the decline for this week in 2023 was substantially worse."
Thank you for thinking logically instead of being another Chicken Little"
Chicken little? Must be nice not having your job outsourced or automated. Or not being one of hundreds of thousands being laid off. Broadway is sustained by its audience, and audience is hurting right now. There are entire industries that are being shuttered because of destructive Trumps policies. What makes youthink Broadway is any different? Maybe Blackrock buying theaters will be Broadway's last hope"
I am looking at data on this very website, literally years of it. Data you yourself could look at. It’s a colorful line graph. You’d like it, I think- the lines even go down a lot."
You're thinking logically. Everyone else is suffering from "I don't want to think logically, I want to panic". Everyone needs to calm down.

Unless they have some kind of stunt casting coup up their sleeve, I think both & Juliet and Hell's Kitchen will wrap it up this winter. Their overall grosses have been trending downward, so they have less opportunity to make up for disastrous weeks like this. I'm surprised we haven't seen more ex-boy band members in & Juliet, but I'm sure casting is asking and maybe those guys just aren't interested.
Boy, would Lance Bass be a good Shakespeare and he's been on Broadway before!

I have friends from the UK specifically traveling to NYC to see Felton in the role.
You can look at the seating charts and see that Tom Felton is clearly selling tickets. I think it's going to be a massive success especially if he's actually good in the role.

But I really do not remember...is the role a decent size??
I shouldn't be surprised. I have at least heard of Felton, unlike half of the people who have brought surges to Chicago's grosses in the past.

Not really. He has some moments where he gets to basically mimic Lucius Malloy, and he’s there for the big battle scene (I think? I forget) at the end, but he’s a much smaller role than any of the other adults. I’m sure at least some of his material was excised in the cut from two parts to one as well.
