There are a ton of very old ushers across the theaters; this seems like a dicey situation all around. I think the next week or two will be pivotal in seeing what happens across Broadway theaters."
The FOH staff are not allowed to wear masks. However, it is preferred that they not wear gloves, but it is not prohibited.

The ushers at Jagged Little Pill had gloves on and so did the ticket takers."
That’s weird — the organization specifically said to front of house staff that gloves can do more harm than good (and it’s logical: less hand washing happens and gloved hands get into and transfer a lot of germs everywhere if you don’t frequently change them).
ETA: Thanks for elaborating, Fosse76! Maybe I caught a more hardline talk the other day.

I would want to wear a mask specifically for that reason. I realized that I really do touch my face often. So I've started wearing a scarf instead. I think of it as a human version of an animal's cone of shame 😂

As much as I love shows even I will want to cancel / move my tickets for the next few weeks. Do you have any experience with how TDF responds to those questions at the moment? I will ask them of course but I also wanted to check here to see if anyone had experienced some flexibility on their end at this time.

For what dates? Am hoping to refund tix for late April but thought I’d wait to ask when it’s closer to the time and when the situation is likely worse... Was meant to be coming from Australia with my brother but considering I’ll be 22 weeks pregnant and he’s autistic and highly anxious it’s looking like we need to cancel our trip ![]()

It's actually been shown that you touch your face much more when you're wearing a mask. People constantly touch, pull, adjust, fiddle with masks, straps.

We have the Eastman Theatre/College near us, and all shows got cancelled for the next month. That's a BIG deal here. Concerts are always sold out and do really well. This is what made me realize how big of a deal it is.
Our Theatre is getting Dolly next week, and I hope it still comes.

"I don't know why our horrendous Mayor hasn't canceled the St. Patrick's day parade yet. It doesn't make any sense to put on such an event while at the same time they are trying to tell us to take this whole virus very seriously."
Why cancel it? If people are afraid to get sick, then don't stand and watch the parade. I am sure people who live and work in NYC know how to get around the parade route. Believe me , I am no fan of the current Mayor but life does go on and you can't cancel everything.

Boston and Dublin canceled theirs. We have agreed a lot previously about this stuff but if it's as serious as they are saying in what world does it make sense to have almost 2 million people together? That's a great way to have this spread pretty fast.

What about the NYC half marathon? Tens of thousands of people, fluids flying... I don't understand it.

That announcement with the list of shows is on this and other sites. That producer is Scott Rudin. Look at the latest headlines here and there is also a thread on it right near this one.

I'd think those who can run NYC half-marathon wouldn't have any respiratory issues or wouldn't be sick.
I do think that once an actor or usher or backstage person tests positive for coronavirus covid-19, that's when we'll really see how Broadway would handle that situation. Would the theater close and get a deep cleaning/disinfection?

TDF is helpful throughout the refund process and only charge $4 for every show I won't be able to attend; Roundabout copypastaed the entire announcement on their website but seems happy to refund; my tix for Lehman cannot be refunded directly through Ticketmaster but they told me they are contacting the BO; Telecharge told me to call but apparently they are dealing with other patrons so idk how that would go; just emailed TodayTix and hopefully they can follow suit

How have rush lines been lately? Specifically for AIN'T TOO PROUD, BEETLEJUICE, MEAN GIRLS, JAGGED LITTLE PILL, and COME FROM AWAY? Are they more or less crowded than they were before the outbreak, or is there no difference?

I called Telecharge Saturday and got a full refund for the 3/12 performance of Company. The credit has already shown up on my AmEx account.

I've called them this entire morning but to no avail. What time on Saturday did you call?

It was around 10:45am when I called. I'm sure call volume has increased dramatically since then. Good luck!
