There's some orchestra seats for less than $100 as well. I'm not sure if this is connected to the virus or not, nor have I checked prices for other shows, but I assume it's connected. I'll probably buy tickets for round 3 once I check my own schedule. Might as well take advantage of discounts while I can, I suppose."
Not to get off topic, but where can I find said $79 front mezz tickets.... ticketmaster doesnt have anything less than 120"
I see side mezz tix for March 18th eve.
I agree with the other poster that it may be possible to find even cheaper tickets on stubhub since ticketmaster resale won't let you sell for less than face value.

Exactly and if the people who got it are not elderly there is excellent chance they will be fine after a while."
Young people will probably be fine, while the elderly and immunocompromised people they infect will require hospitalization and face a relatively high mortality rate.
I wouldn't worry just yet. There may be a slowdown in tourism and travel, but unless the government orders a shutdown, and contrary to public statements. the Broadway League will put profits ahead of this outbreak (despite a severe snow storm, the shuttering of public transit, and Disney closing its shows, a little over a year ago the mayor's office had to call the Broadway League and tell them directly to cancel performances).
And while it does sound a bit morbid, the most at-risk are older adults and people with serious chronic medical conditions (such as heart disease, heart disease, diabetes) and weaker immune systems. They aren't mutually exclusive, and the average age is 42yo (meaning a significant umber of theatergoers are much older). That said, school closures are not really considered extreme measures, so I wouldn't too much into it is schools are closing.
And while people certainly shouldn't panic, NYC is not an isolated bubble. According to NBC, the number of novel coronavirus cases in the tri-state area surged by 216 percent between late Friday and Monday afternoon, from 49 cases to 155. 16 of those are in NYC. And just because there "only" 49 cases in the area, doesn't mean this isn't spreading rapidly. Over 114,000 people have been infected worldwide, from a virus that was seen only in one region in China. In 2-month's time. That's not insignificant. 3.5% of those infected have died. Again, this is within a 2-month period (approximately). Comparing it to other illnesses is absurd, at this point. As of now, it is more deadly than the flu.
The St. Patty's Day parade was just confirmed to still go on as scheduled for Sunday.
A Chorus Line revival played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013. Another non-equity tour launched on January 20, 2018. The tour ended its US run in Kansas City and then toured throughout Japan August & September 2018.

The one in Boston was cancelled. Inebriated people puking all over the place is certainly a good way to spread whatever diseases you might be carrying.
Just wanted to add, the current Shubert Theater policy as of last week is that FOH staff are not allowed to wear gloves or masks during work no matter their personal situation, because it makes them look bad or send the message that the theater is not safe. There are a ton of very old ushers across the theaters; this seems like a dicey situation all around. I think the next week or two will be pivotal in seeing what happens across Broadway theaters.
I've been considering trading in a bunch of my savings and taking a solo trip to NYC in early May to go see a couple broadway shows when school gets out. What do you think the likelihood of broadway shows/stage doors and everything being up and running despite the coronavirus by then?
Well, since we've not seen anything like it - there is no way of telling. They keep saying that warmer weather will aid in killing this virus off - so I'd say odds are pretty good.
If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it?
These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.

You are very lucky. I had shows booked for the next week and could only get a refund on 2 out of my 8. Only the ones I booked with Nimax refunded me. Everyone else just said tough luck basically.

The ushers at Jagged Little Pill had gloves on and so did the ticket takers.

Cases in the Philippines are exploding and it was 93 there today. Trump, yet again, has zero idea what he’s talking about and can’t be trusted.
Pearl Jam just postponed their entire tour. Our trip to NYC revolved around seeing them at MSG and then attending a bunch of shows. I’m asthmatic, so we were conflicted about going but I guess that made the decision for us. Now to see if we can get any refunds on our show tickets.

I am elderly but I am not going to live my life being afraid of everything. My wife is a nurse and has always preached to me about scrubbing my hands so no issue with that for me.

Not to downplay this, I do believe there are way more carriers roaming around than reported. But where did you get that number from? I just checked, Philippines has 24 as of now; if it's a typo, you're talking about Philadelphia, confirmed cases of the entire PA is 10.
For anyone wondering, Telecharge is offering full refunds if you are coming from out of state. If you are in state, you are able to reschedule but not get a refund.

No, I mean Philippines. It’s tripled in 3 days, unless I read incorrectly. They (like us” lack tests so the real numbers are unknown.
As shared by the President of the Philippines as of Monday ( based presumably on what the Department of Health has confirmed so far, although the DOH does not discount the possibility of unreported cases).
The country imposed travel bans to and from China/HongKong/South Korea and other high-risk countries very early on. Returning citizens or residents from countries affected by the travel ban ( including the infected ship docked in Japan) were quarantined ( a new Olympic type village used for a recent Southeast Asian games hosting was used to house the quarantined persons until they have been cleared or sent for proper medical care.)
Government units ( including at the local levels) were given directives very early on. Tracing of movement of those diagnosed or suspected of the illness is part of the long-drawn process of identifying infection levels. Most of those who contracted the disease were tourists who are from or travelled to high-risk countries. Only a few have been indicated as local transmissions. If you are visiting or are from here - it is obvious that many public places ( resorts/malls/etc) are very much less crowded now. Some self-imposed restrictions also now seen in religious services ( the country is predominantly Roman Catholic). Since the recent volcanic eruption, there were already some precautionary measures about the health watch especially on respiratory infections.
A few days ago, the President declared a national public health emergency, which will bypass bureaucratic procedures to facilitate actions to combat the threat.
Now, as a strong precautionary measure - classes are suspended for the next 2 weeks.
Some suggestions to lockdown the central National Capital Region ( which includes Metropolitan Manila) where the cases have been confirmed, but the President has declined that at the moment...as essential food supply movement may create greater problems.
In spite of the recent virus outbreak, the one-woman show, SWIZZLE-SWITS will open as planned. As a precautionary measure, though, it will perform without an audience.
