Of course, this pretty much negates their statement that the health and safety of cast, crew, and audience is their highest priority. But it is what it is."
”Everyone needs to relax?” Some peopleare canceling their trips, not because they are concerned/worried/think the league will close broadway houses—several on here are forced to cancel,in response to their government- and work-related policies and rules. "
That's fine, but in my opinion that's nonsense. These restrictions are necessary (though a bit too late) to try and minimize the spread, but people's selfish refusal to heed any of the warnings or advice because they want to see Patti LuPone in Companyjust makes things worse. One attorney alone is believed to be responsible for at least 50 cases of the Coronavirus infection in New York. It is asymptomatic, so you can spread it without even knowing you have it. So by all means, complain about unpaid sick leave. That's a legitimate concern. But no one cares that you can't see Mrs. Doubtfire now because your government is trying to prevent the spread of the virus by restricting travel."
Chill outFosse. Iactually agree with everything you just said. My point is that there are a variety of reasons for why people have canceled or are considering cancelling, their trips.
"
Not sure why Fosse76 needs to "chill out" Everything said is rational.

By sacrifice, you mean people daily/basic livelihoods and their ability to pay their rent, bills, groceries, literally just LIFE. Cool."
This. Society has been so quick to clamor "shut it down" without thinking of the ramifications. I'm not saying do nothing, and I'm not stating that some things shouldn't close. I am stating that each and every decision like this has way more repercussions that people realize."
We are seeing the ramifications of not shutting it down. Globally, there have been 118,326 confirmed cases, with 4,292 deaths. All throughout the world. It5's not localized, which makes its spread dangerous. The only way to control it is to Interrupt human-to-human transmission including reducing secondary infections among close contacts and health care workers, preventing transmission amplification events, and preventing further international spread.
I'm going to guess this will close Broadway now. Shows will likely finish the week.
A Chorus Line revival played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013. Another non-equity tour launched on January 20, 2018. The tour ended its US run in Kansas City and then toured throughout Japan August & September 2018.
As expected, my backstage tour at Beetlejuice at the end of the month is cancelled (and are until further notice). I’m working with the organization to see what my options are seeing that Beetlejuice is closing in a few weeks and my weekends are limited.
it does make you wonder what actions they're currently thinking of taking. A temporary closer of Broadway to clean and sanitize? Taking of audience members temps before they enter? Something will come from this usher who tested positive. I'm guessing we find out tomorrow.

An employee with both the Shubert and Nederlander organizations has tested positive for COVID-19.
The employee, who is under quarantine, worked at the Shubert's Booth Theater on Tuesday, March 3rd through Friday March 7th as an usher.
The employee also recently worked at the Nederlander's Brooks Atkinson Theater on the evening of February 25th and the matinee of March 1st, expediting lines outside the building.
Both theaters are being deep cleaned following all government standards.
"This evening's performances of Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf at the Booth, SIX at the Brooks Atkinson, and all other Broadway shows have determined they will continue as scheduled for now.
Any ticketholder that prefers to attend a future performance of Virginia Woolf or SIX will be provided the opportunity for an exchange at the point of purchase," a spokesperson said.
Officials said employees of the theaters and productions who may have been exposed were notified and advised to monitor their health.
Any high-risk audience members who attended the above-mentioned performances in the past several days are asked to follow similar guidance and under observation.

Pix 11 was asking Booth Theatre sidewalk patrons Wednesday night if they had any concerns about entering the theatre. Once inside, all the ushers had gloves on.
I spoke with usher Marjorie in mezzanine aisle 2. She said the substitute usher who contracted the bad news DID NOT LOOK WELL.
it's a shame that some people badly need their paychecks to get to this point where they can't call in sick. I hope for the best for everyone in this. 2020 really has been the worst year so far for me, I hate it so far

Oy vey. He should have called off."
Does this lead us to believe the ill usher was working in the mezzanine?

I was told he was working in the mezzanine. Which makes me concerned because that's where I was sitting on Saturday night....
Without symptoms, they won't even test you - is what I think I've heard.
If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it?
These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.

Ahh I think you're right--I think I've read that somewhere too. And those take up to 14 days to appear. Alright. I'm fine for now. I am still on edge about he whole thing but a little less worried about my particular case. Thank you!
