Broadway star with the most absences??- Page 4

Oh my god...Tamyra Gray in RENT. She is out at least two times a week and has taken at least two full weeks off. During her time in the show she has had to have two standbys (Antonique and Jaime Lee Kirchner) come in to cover her absences.

I know this is just me being unlucky and not an actual indication of absences but the three times I saw ACL with it's original revival cast Alisan Porter was out twice and Ken Alan was out every time.

Correct! Laura Benanti broke her collar bone during Into The Woods, check out her photos from NINE you can see her scar. She also injured her vocal chords during Wedding Singer. Both times I saw Wedding Singer I saw her, before AND after her break.

In the last two years I have seen these shows with understudies in the major parts.
Company
A Chorus Line
The Drowsy Chaperone
Spelling Bee
Jersey Boys
Hairspray
The Color Purple
Mary Poppins
Xanadu (sort of)
The RItz
August: Osage county

I can go back further but the list just gets insane. Basically if I see a Broadway show now I never go for a star because I will see there understudy.

BTW, when Tamyra leaves this June, there are rumors Jaime's coming back for a bit.

I've heard that Bernadette Peters has attendance issues, but I wouldn't know.

By the by, what role to Laura B have in Into the Woods? No offense, but I can't see her in that show at all. Well, maybe Rapunzel.

I heard about Jaime coming back a few months ago. As much as I adore Jaime I kinda wish they would cast new. Also she's kind of a divisive choice.

wait...did anyone mention Lauren Pritchard....

dont get me wrong...she is wonderful and is totally fantastic in Spring Awakening, but the first 2 times I saw it in the summer,she was out both times and Krysta Rodriguez filled in for her......
