Tik Tok is saying Brody has only performed his lead role in The Outsiders 65% of performances since last spring. He has missed a total of 88 shows. Is he not well?

Presumably he's had some health struggle but it isn't publicly known. He missed a few months but returned about a month or so ago. I would think those months are why the percentage is low, not that he misses several days each week.

He was out when i saw it two weeks ago. Don't think he makes or breaks the show. He's not the one who is shirtless most of the first act.

What a gross comment to make. But anyway, as stated above, he was in fact out for a planned absence for a month, which is what brings down the average. He does also miss a show or two a week which is in line with what many lead roles do in other shows (see, eg, Hells Kitchen). The problem isn’t with Brody, it’s with the weird way the show handles it— of choosing not to disclose when he’ll be out. But at least some people like this gross poster who are apparently going for the shirtless young men don’t care whether he’s out or not anyway!

He does seem to be out ALOT....... just as much if not more than Lindsay Mendez was out in Merrily.
Not saying that his absences aren't justified, but it's obvious he gets a free pass here while she was raked over the coals consistently on this message board

I’m not sure he gets a free pass, per se. It’s more that the membership here was more invested in Merrily overall.
There was also a weird while this summer in which his absences became fodder for unsubstantiated rumors of misconduct amongst the production on social media and on Reddit in particular and any posts about the topic got deleted.

I'd agree with that plus Mendez is a Tony winner and seeing the 3 of them was essential to show's success. Grant's insanely talented, but I think most people are going for the show.

Mendez was also above the title so there was more obligation on the show and they often didn’t notify until pretty last minute

If he wasn’t okay and had private medical or mental things going on, would that make his performance record more suitable to you? This thread is weird. Actors are humans first, they owe us nothing. Let’s worry about the shows and not their personal lives. Our ticket price doesn’t include that info.

It was a joke. But you tell me why Soda spends half the show shirtless? It's a total thirst trap in a show where, when I attended a mid-week matinee, everyone seated around me was 10-13 years old.

All The Worst Broadway Fans You Know latched onto this and it just made me roll my eyes so hard. Honestly could be true. But, the only "source" talking about it was an unrelated third party. So many people ran with it and decided a great injustice was occurring.

I want to add on- I found that TIK TOK extremely disgusting. Then I saw people claiming to know him- and the tik tokers were saying things like "drop the lore" as if the people they are messaging are not making up stories, for clout.
How would these tik tokers like for something like that, to happen to them? People diving into their past to come up with secrets about them?
I think it truly crosses a severe line.
Also- Brody has been very vocal about his mental health- and I think when he is not on for the show- it is not something that should be tracked. bc that is also very disturbing

Maybe you are a younger poster and it's a generational thing. But I do believe when I first started going to the theater actors felt they actually did owe the audience something. One would never have to worry about a cast member not performing, when it would happen it would be a great shock! These days you almost always have concerns if a certain performer won't be in the show that you've purchased. Especially with ticket prices being so extreme these days!

I think you mentioned you were there the week I was? Was it the 11/14 Matinee you saw the show? I was surrounded by multiple field trip groups in the front mezz. losers, i skipped school for a week to see it.

I'm not a young poster, but I'm newer to this board community. I understand how things used to be, though I'd say things have changed. Social media and phones give this false sense of obligatory access to actors that I find it completely unhealthy. People forget Broadway is a job. 8X a week. It's unlike any other artistic sport. People struggle in their personal lives on things they can't share - nor do I think they owe it to us to do so. If an actor isn't in the show you wanna see, get your money back. But I believe they don't personally owe us anything. They owe their life and sanity everything.
