The first Broadway revival of Caroline, or Change – directed by Michael Longhurst -begins previews tomorrow night at Studio 54, prior to an October 27 official opening. It will be a limited run, currently set to conclude on January 9. The musical previously played a three-month run in the West End, ending early 2019. Caroline shut down - along with the rest of Broadway - the night of what would have been its final invited dress rehearsal. This revival features music by Tony winner Jeanine Tesori (Fun Home) and lyrics and book by Pulitzer Prize winner Tony Kushner (Angels in America).
Caroline welcomes four new kids to its cast; Jaden Myles Waldman, Gabriel Amoroso, and Adam Makké will alternate as Noah Gellman, and Jayden Theophile will play Joe Thibodeaux, with Alexander Bello now playing Jackie Thibodeaux (he was Joe before the shutdown). The principal cast is led by Olivier winner Sharon D. Clarke as Caroline; the musical also features Caissie Levy, John Cariani, Samantha Williams, Tamika Lawrence, Stuart Zagnit, and Chip Zien. The show also welcomes a new music director, Joseph Joubert; Chris Fenwick was with Caroline before the shutdown, but he is currently working on another Tesori musical, Kimberly Akimbo.
“Caroline Thibodeaux is a black woman working as a maid for a Jewish family in 1963 Louisiana, as the civil rights movement is transforming America. Clarke brings this indelible heroine to ‘incandescent’ life (Time Out London), in a production that launches to ‘the titanic dimensions of greatness’ (The New York Times). From Pulitzer Prize winner Tony Kushner and Tony Award winner Jeanine Tesori comes the show that pulses with the urgency and passion that's shaping the world today. The time for Caroline, or Change has arrived.”
I'm ready for the first preview tomorrow night. Got three tickets and my friends are all ready to head to the mezzanine. Tuesday had a good time at Chicken & Biscuits and glad Michael Urie was in it. Tonight I'm at the Oppening of Lakawana Blues. I'm on a run this week.
I just filled my recently vacated last show slot for my November trip with this (I returned my Diana ticket after watching it on Netflix)! I know very little about the show other than the few songs I've heard and the general premise, but I am excited to see it based on the love the show gets on the boards! I am going to be seeing Company, Caroline, Or Change, Hadestown, Flying Over Sunset, and Chicago!

I'm seeing this on November 3. I also have a ticket to Diana. Still may see it. Curious on how you got a refund?

I'm so jealous of everyone able to be at the first preview. I hope everyone here enjoys Sharon's performance as much as I did in 2018. It's different from Tonya and I remember thinking that might bother some people but then I realized that a majority of people have never even seen the show before so they'll have nothing to compare it to. For that, I'm fascinated to see what an entirely new generation of people think about this show.
I hope they love it and understand why myself and others consider it a masterpiece and the greatest musical of the 21st century.
I love this score and I was told that I was going to be going for my bday on Tuesday but that fell through. Hopefully, I will be able to see it within the next month. I can't wait to hear what other people think.

I’ve never used Hiptix before and am struggling - my registration e-Mail didn’t have a promo code (as the website said it would). I tried the presale one that was posted on this board a few months ago and no seats came up. Do they send out new codes or have I just missed out?

You should just have to enter the code HIPTIX into the promo box to unlock the Hiptix seats! They will be in the rear mezzanine.

Thanks again, on the ease of refunding. I am biting the bullet and still plan on seeing it, since there aren't alot of options available, that I'm interested in. I really wanted to change my seat since the two seats next to me were obviously refunded. So I purchased the new seat which is three seats closer to the center, and returned my prior ticket. Also the price dropped $10, so it was a win win for me.

In my experience, yes. I try to get a magnet for every show I see, and of the many Roundabout musicals I've seen, the only one that didn't sell magnets (and other stuff) was The People in the Picture.
