A week and a half after its Apple TV+ premiere, Come From Away welcomes audiences back to the Rock at the Gerald Schoenfeld Theatre tonight, with most of its proshot cast intact. The show was set to celebrate its third anniversary since opening night the day Broadway shut down.
The post-9/11 musical is a 12-member ensemble piece, with each individual playing dozens of people – both locals and foreigners - throughout 100 fast-paced minutes. James Seol joins the cast as Kevin T. / Garth and others in his first Broadway musical, and Pearl Sun will play Bonnie and others through October 8 only. Rachel Tucker returns as Beverly / Annette and others (played by Tony nominee - and original cast member - Jenn Colella in the filming).
Who’s kissing the fish?
I’m seeing it for the first time on Wednesday night (no idea how I missed it!) and am very excited!

So excited for tonight! Can't wait to be back in a theatre again, and I'm so glad this will be my first show back

Won't be seeing it until Saturday, but so excited to follow this thread. Hope everyone has an amazing time tonight!
I'll be there tonight! Grabbed a rear mezz ticket on Sunday for $75. Very excited that this is my first Broadway show in over 18 months. Bringing plenty of tissues.
Used some audience rewards points for this weekend. Can’t wait!!
It’s my all-time favorite show so I wish...
I’ll be watching the proshot at home in solidarity instead and then taking an excessive amount of photos outside the theatre when I’m in NYC for Hadestown this coming weekend lol...

FYI, they weren't selling SRO tonight due to various news cameras taking up the area, but they will sell them for future shows, if they are sold out.
Well that was an emotional rollercoaster. When the band entered the stage came this first standing O. Then that first downbeat of the drum came the second when the cast entered. A solid 5 minute standing ovation. Joel Hatch turned to check on his cast members before trying to start. Q Smith, Sharon and Astrid were already crying. Rounds of applause for each cast member's first line. A mostly well behaved audience I'd say. And during the intense and emotional moments in the show you could her the gasps and sobbing. I cried multiple times, probably the most since my first time seeing it. Standing O after "Screech In". Rachel got several roaring applauses during "Me and the Sky". And the final standing O came during the finale and never ended until after the cast and band left the stage. Joel Hatch gave a nice speech after curtain call. Christopher Ashley, David Hein and Irene Stankoff gave a brief speech before the show. Such a thrilling and emotional evening.

Magical evening. Absolutely incredible.
And to the person who was filming and taking photos in one of the boxes, yes, you were distracting me, and why would you do that if there’s a proshot?? I know Wicked and The Lion King showed their opening numbers, but this person clearly did not work with the show or anything. It was very distracting, obvious and rude. I’m well aware that filming happens, obviously, but this was just…no. So rude. Not okay. I tried to ignore it but I saw the light out of the corner of my eye. Not okay. I hope you show other casts more respect than you did to this one.
FYI, check out the show's Facebook page to see the curtain call and hear Joel's speech.
Thanks for the heads up about the Facebook video. They need to fire whoever filmed that, though. STOP FILMING VERTICALLY!
Sounds like another exciting evening. Thanks for the latest emotional reopening curtain call video, ACL.
How were James and Pearl?
Amazing night today!
James was good, some missed quick cues but he’s in good shape overall and will continue fine tuning the role.
Pearl was good as well, great voice.

James will get there. As phan24 mentioned, he had a missed cue or two, but that was it. His accents need some work, too.
Pearl's amazing and is now officially the first cast member to play two different roles on a regular basis. She was first a standby(Bonnie/etc, Janice/etc, Beulah/etc, Hannah/etc, Diane/etc) for a year and then left. Returned in Jan. 2020 to play Janice/others to cover Emily Walton's leave. And now she's with the show as Bonnie/others until Oct. 7.
Looks like the person filming in the boxes was “broadwaygirlnyc” and the links to the videos she posted on YouTube are in the BWW news section above.

BroadwayWorld at Come From Away's re-opening
As mentioned earlier, there were also cameras set-up in the SRO section in center orchestra. Theatermania? Playbill? Broadway.com?

There was also a camera set-up at this afternoon's invited dress rehearsal. The evening performance was attended by the real Kevin T and the real Nick and Diane.

I saw on their Instagram that they had an invited dress for a matinee. Makes me wonder why they're scheduled for 8 performances this week.

$ I wonder $ why $ they would $ do that? $
Since it’s a shorter show and the cast is largely intact, there probably isn’t much need to ease into it.

No, that’s from the left mezzanine and only after the show ended. The person recording DURING the show was sitting on a box house right, it was a bit distracting.

Yes! It was the house right box, exactly. Not the other side. phan24, exactly. I’m glad I’m not the only one who noticed!! Even so, shouldn’t that other person know not to film? They’re not part of the show…unless you mean they were posting curtain calls and speeches. That’s fine. This person was filming and taking photos DURING the show.
Yeah, definitely distracting while the show was going on.
At least no flash photography today as I'd seen at other shows this week.
