Seeing some rumors coming out that Come From Away might be eyeing a limited engagement Broadway return this Fall to honor the 25th anniversary of September 11. Anyone have any news on this?

A Chorus Line revival played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013. Another non-equity tour launched on January 20, 2018. The tour ended its US run in Kansas City and then toured throughout Japan August & September 2018.

There is an outdoor concert production happening in September at the PAC in honor of the 25th anniversary…is this what’s being referenced?

No. Hearing a legit sit-down, fully staged production returning. Unless that outdoor concert turns into the Broadway return?

and now I'm just gagged that 9/11 was 25 years ago.    Damn, I'm old.

If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it? These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.

Honestly wouldn't be a horrible endeavor for them. The show is cheap to run by today's standards and they still have the set and everything in storage if it's to be a remount.

I'm hearing its going to be the highly acclaimed Paper Mill production as a gap filler for a spring show.

Kind of surprising, considering the rights were just released last November so it's being widely produced nationwide.

Is this the Richard J. Hinds  directed production (had a run at Paper Mill/ La Mirada, etc)?

I hope it is - would love to see Jeannette Bayardelle and Andrea Burns - i gave up my ticket (Paper mill) due to conflict : /

A while back it was one of the most oft-produced musicals in the States.

I know of four separate community theaters in the NYC area that applied for rights and were denied for their upcoming seasons so I honestly wouldn't be shocked if this is the reason why

That is what is undecided and could factor in whether is returns or not. Nothing bigger than the Schoenfeld.

Best guess based on current bookings/size is the Barrymore. But with current business trends, it wouldn’t surprise me if the Lena Horne or Sondheim could come into play.

The Barrymore is available and is the best size for this, with excellent site lines and acoustics. Perhaps the show 860 with Billy Crystal has the theatre already?

It never should have closed. It was still making money. This was a bad call by the Shubert organization.

I haven't heard anything about this, but it's a great idea

Why did the shuberts want them out?

Agreed. And I'd say the tour only closed so regional theaters could start producing it.

Since it will have been 3 years since the original closed, would this revival be Tony eligible?

Isn't the revival rule 10 years?

It's 3 years but the original production closed October 2, 2022, so this would be eligible regardless.
