It's safe to say Manuel probably didn't have much choice in the matter.

Caren Lyn Manuel will be understudying Rachel Stern and Emily Swallow since Rachel Stern got bumped up and they need another female understudy. IMO Justin Brill was funny as Sarah. Quite a hoot to see him in drag.
Dean: Can I tell you something?
Lorraine: That depends on what it is.
Dean: I think you're really really pretty.
Lorraine: (after a pause) Ok, you can tell me that.

Why was the original Liz fired? I never heard about that.

What's with this recent rash of firing people? Isn't that the whole point of the audition and moreover, callback process? Are the people behind the table getting drunk or something because they seem to be getting it wrong alot more often lately. It seems like a big waste of everyones time!

this show has more problems than an average chorus boy who should have NO problem playing a woman
(if anyone on this thread has actually seen JB os stage before) and having Manuel play Sarah.

Funny, I thought that the process of trying a show out of town had something to do with things like...seeing the show as a whole for the first time, moving musical numbers around after seeing audience reaction, and replacing actors who didn't work in the role, if necessary.
You know...things to do BEFORE you open on Broadway when people are apt to do things like...REVIEW THE FINAL PRODUCT.
I don't think liquor has anything to do with that process. Although...

Jenn wasn't released from Times, she made the choice to do High Fidelity.
And I swear that it was Matt Caplan as Sarah, because it looked like him, and then Justin was the Sound Guy, which was who Matt was supposed to be. Whatever.

alliez- I can sort of see how you could think Matt Caplan was playing Sarah, although it was listed in the playbill that Justin Brill was playing the role. I'm kind of amused that you got them confused as the Sound Guy though, especially since Matt Caplan is in your avatar. Like you said, whatever. I can't fault you for wanting to see more of Matt Caplan

I think this is a good move for Caren. For one I don't think it was her fault she had to leave The times. I think she was fired. And, I think it was a great thing that she got another job so soon.

Matt was definitely not the sound guy however.

Yes he was. He was the one telling Andrew Call which mic to check; perhaps you're refering to the soundcheck guy (Andrew) as the one who was actually on stage. Matt was the equivalent to the guy that would be in the sound booth.

Okay, that makes sense. Just a little confusing.
