"Caren Lyn Manuel has joined the ensemble of High Fidelity as one of unlucky-in-love main character Rob's all-time top five desert island breakups, Sarah, a role played in the show's Boston premiere by ensemble member Justin Brill. Brill remains in the show in various other roles."
Justin Brill is a guy, right? Sarah was a character in drag? Updated On: 11/3/06 at 02:36 PM
Interesting that they decided to change it from a guy in drag to a girl. I can't say it made a ton of sense the way it was, since it was obviously a guy dressed as a girl. I wonder if the character is the same and she will still be a lesbian. So is Justin not in the show anymore? That's kind of sad.

It sounds like the change might be because it just works better to have the character REALLY be female, so no, it's not "obvious" that he wasn't amazing. He may very well have given a great performance. This doesn't automatically mean he was taken out because he was bad, especially if he wasn't replaced by another guy. I haven't even see the show, but your argument makes no sense.
I wonder how she must feel. To be the one who replaced Jenn in Times and then to be released from the show and then end up in the ensemble of the show that Jenn is currently starring in? Might do something to that ego...

Obviously I read the first post very thoroughly.

I have to say this even though I know it's going to sound mean, but "awfully small part" or not, after what i saw in Times...Changin', she's lucky to have any job so soon after that performance. I'd say she was really lucky.
Yeah, I think this is probably the first time in theater history that two women were both "let go" from the same Broadway role prior to opening and then ended up in a different Broadway show together later that season!
i am sooo happy for her! i was so disappointed she left TIMES, but thats good she is in another, and hopefully better, show :) i love Caren very much. yeah for her!
