Carmen just tweeted to advise of the cancellation of her 10/29 NYC concert due to an upcoming project she’ll be announcing when allowed... could this be Lempicka?
If it is, then great. Finally a best musical winner I can stand behind.
PS - but this means there's a good chance Stephanie J Block won't win her Tony. No bueno.
Rachel Chavkin, the director of Lempicka, is in London for assumably the rest of the year with Hadestown. Maybe Carmen is involved in a workshop or reading that requires her to be in the city?
And isn't there speculation that Hadestown may come to Broadway in the spring after the London run?

y'all dont understand how this business works, no one is announcing a show let alone a Broadway one on 4-6 weeks notice
I don't think LEMPICKA is coming to Broadway right away. This could be an off-Broadway transfer to start.
Could be a reading of a new show.
Could be a guest role on TV.
Could be a regional production.
Could be almost anything. I guess we'll find out eventually!

Lempicka is not coming to Broadway this season and nothing has discussed for a transfer.
And if anything, I'd think this takes her OUT of NY or she would more than likely be able to still do her gig.

Or it could be just an excuse. You never know.
For what it's worth, it's definitely not Lempicka. There's a casting call on Backstage for the role of Rafaela for the lab at the end of November.

If this is true, I’m sad. I heard her performance was amazing.
Imagine if the Chess revival actually came in and she was Florence.
That's not what this is.
But... imagine that...

The casting notice for the EPA specifies that they're looking for an artist of color for Rafaela, so maybe they're going in a different direction for the show now?
Lab runs Nov. 26-Dec. 21 in NYC.

I'm not surprised since Cynthia Ervio was originally attached but Carmen was SO good in the role

Erivo played the title character in one of the Williamstown readings, not Cusack’s role.

Her cancelled date lines up with the Wicked 15th anniversary concert and she was a tour Elphaba so maybe she's involved. (Defying Gravity with a chorus of Elphies??)
Looks like this is it!

As others have stated, Cusack is almost certainly not participating in this lab. The casting notice specifically states they're looking for a person of color for the part Cusack played. Cusack is not a person of color.

It means she's probably not in this new Lab of it?
It does look like Eden Espinosa is still in it.
It was just announced that Carmen Cusack is one of the newly announced cast members for the upcoming Mister Rogers biopic starring Tom Hanks.

On another note, watching Facebook series Sorry for your loss and Carmen Cusack showed up in Episode 6.

Carmen's husband Paul Telfer has been recurring on Days Of Our Lives for the past 2-3 years. He plays a pop up villain but is very popular with fans of the show. Recent announcements seem to hint that he may be back long term and/or on contract now. The show tapes in Burbank.
I know a lot of acting couples do the long distance thing but I think Paul may have been recurring so he could remain NY based with Carmen. If he's doing a longer term role now, I wonder if she may be looking to do some LA based stuff now too.

Having seen her at the Cort in Bright Star, and then again at the Ahmanson, third row center that time, where I could witness her character interpretation up close and personal, I would gladly watch Cusack read and interpret the telephone book. I definitely became a fan and find her brilliant.
