I got that impression also. I wonder if it'll actually stay that way. Because apparently there's nobody else on the planet that can play Velma...*insert sarcasm*
I'm thrilled for Jinkx! Coming off Angelica and Isaac, love that they're going full-out LGBTQ+ in their casting. Hopefully more shows will follow suit.
Charlotte was amazing. She is a master of the Fosse style. You could see add her personal touches here and there to the choreography. At times, she uttered a "whoosh" sound for emphasis. I was seated front row center. At one point, she did something new. She got on her tummy on the stage, facing an audience member. Charlotte asked her her age. The girl said she was 14. Charlotte mentioned something witty about attending the show. Before the show began, I managed to get Charlotte a box of Lucky Charms...which happens to be her favorite cereal. She was ever so nice at the stage door. She must have been exhausted. It's always a delight to see her perform as Roxie.
Jennifer Fouche was amazing as Matron Mama Morton. I have seen her perform as Mama on the Cellblock Tour (Fort Worth: Feb. 2018, San Angelo, TX: May 2018 and Houston, TX: June 2019. I follow her on social media on FB. I happened to meet her older brother at the stage door. This was the first time I had seen her as Mama at the Ambassador.
I first saw Lana as Velma Kelly in Fort Worth, TX: Feb. 2018 and later in Houston, TX: June 2019. She was amazing as Velma Kelly. The audience was supportive of her performance. She will be Velma Kelly for an extended period of time...until sometime in March 2023...more than 3 months.
By the way, I almost forgot to mention Isaac Mizrahi. He was actually very impressive in his performance. I knew he could sing, but I didn't know he could sing that well. Mizrahi came across as an adorable Amos. The audience loved him.
I was looking thru the Playbill Vault and noticed some updated names in the understudy list:
For Roxie Hart: Jennifer Dunne, Angel Reda and Jessica Earnest.
For Billy Flynn: Jeff Gorti, Brian O Brien and Barrett Martin
Dunne has only covered Roxie previously when either of the Roxie covers were on vacation. So she's probably back covering it until Rachel returns.
They've had three Billy u/s since the show reopened.
Who is playing Mama Morton and Amos Hart right now? For some reason, Telecharge is lacking that information. It's also strange that end dates aren't mentioned for Roxie, Velma and Billy Flynn.
Evan Harrington is back as Amos & Charity is back as Mama.
Jayke Workman was brought in to cover Mary Sunshine and was on all weekend as Joseph London is on vacation.
Colt Adam Weiss is in for a few weeks to cover for Michael Scirrotto who's on vacation.
Marty Lawson has replaced longtime Chicago veteran Brian Spitulnik's as yesterday was his last show.
charlottes done that on and off for over 10 years, sometimes she’d tell kids to cover their ears
does Charlotte still do me and my baby leaps? I always miss them

I don't remember if she did the leaps, but both Charlotte and Lana did the cartwheel at the end of Hot Honey Rag. Another tidbit: I gifted Charlotte a box of Lucky Charms...which is apparently her favorite cereal.
Charlotte hasn't done the leaps in over ten years. Even Bianca doesn't do them. Can't recall the last Roxie to actually do them.

The world is filled with super talented artists. Sandra Guida who played Velma in the original production in Buenos Aires passed away a few weeks ago at age 60. She was a unique talent and revered in her country. There are some videos on YouTube of her performance. And she was incredible. One of the best..
Has anyone tried the general rush lately? I'm planning ahead to see Jinkx in late January with a small group, and any recent reports would be appreciated!
Emma Pittman mentioned a bit of Chicago news four days ago.

Santa came early this year, and gave me the gift of being back on Broadway for christmas!!!! 🎄 @chicagomusical
i’m headed into a new track next week, Annie “Six”, and understudying the queen @charswebnyc as Roxie.
I guess Rachel isn't coming back soon and Angel Reda had to leave?
FYI, Emma is there until Jan. 22 as Annie. However, I wouldn't be surprised if she takes over for Charlotte after that as Roxie.
I'm glad that Emma Pittman is being given more opportunities to shine in Chicago as Roxie and in other roles. Maybe she can also get some experience as Velma, at some point? Now, if the producers would also make an effort to introduce one or two new Velmas. It's to the show's benefit to start on new Velmas.
For the next two weeks, Emma is Annie(u/s Roxie), Dani Spieler is back as Go-To-Hell Kitty while Jessica Ernest is on vacation & Jennifer Fouche is Mama. David Bushman is also back as a swing/dance captain.
FYI, Emma is on as Roxie tonight.
Is Rachel Schur Chase away from the show permanently?

I believe she got injured and now has a project for the holidays. She's supposed to be back on Jan. 23.
This is a clip I found on my YouTube feed. I don't think I've seen this before. https://youtu.be/q5tKqhDSjKQ

This is the B-Roll for press purposes. It’s been in circulation since 1996. This person posted it a year ago so it’s cycling around again.

I've seen it in all three of it's Broadway homes and loved it almost always. Some of the best Roxie's I saw were Sandy Duncan, Amy Spanger, Charlotte d'Amboise, Karen Ziemba. My fave Velma's were Donna Marie Asbury, Ruthie Henshall, Bebe Neuwirth, Ute Lemper, Vicki Lewis. My fav Mamas were Marcia Lewis, Jennifer Holliday, Michelle Pawk. Billy: Brent Barrett, James Naughton. Worst I saw was Lou Gossett Jr."
I'm somewhere in the 70s or 80s, I've lost count over the decades. (That includes various cities.) Even so, I'm so jealous you got to see Donna Marie as Velma. The one time I gave up a ticket because of a conflict, it was a night she went on.
James T. Lane will rejoin the show, this time as Billy Flynn; he begins January 16 (along with Jinkx Monsoon). He was last seen on Broadway in the 2019 revival of Kiss Me, Kate.
